Yes, HIP is the component within the AMD "ROCm" ecosystem that is essentially the counterpart to the CUDA API. Even the API calls themselves are generally the same, just swapping "cuda" prefixes for "hip".

It does not, as the weights are pre-computed during training. You are just downloading the same (ish) model to run locally. The problems with DeepSeek are in the weights, not in the system prompting.

I just got back from Ireland, where I was visiting some friends and attending a wedding. @krystyntully.com and I got some time to go for a walk in the woods where the event was taking place. Kinnitty Castle grounds, Ofally, Ireland.
