unless someone comms me to write about her sometime in the future because that's really the only reason the evil Lila came back.
Anyway, that ends the Match of Fates! All that was left was to conduct the final match of the tournament!

“I don’t know what that freak I certainly never met before was talking about. I’m not pitiful.” She twists and blows a kiss to the audience and sticks her long tongue out as she strokes her breasts with a hand and sticks up her snake butt. “I’m a love goddess, right, audience?”

At least half the audience cheers in a mix of affirmation and sighs.

Lila groans and rubs her head as she rises. She blinks and looks at Jb. Jb turns as she says her name.

“Jb, you saved me.”

Jb laughs and waves at Lila.

“Oh my no, little Lila, while perhaps yes my actions did save you, I assure you it was in no way my aim.”

“Really?” Lila asks. “No part of Jewelyn in there did that to try and save me, and maybe prove herself worthy of redemption?” Jb looks away.

“Really now, I don’t know of whom you’re speaking of, so I’m afraid I cannot answer that for you.”

“I wonder,” Lila says.

Is Jewelyn still in there? Did she choose Jb for good? Would there be a way to help the real Jewelyn?

“Did you know this would happen?” Veda asks. She sits in her VIP booth, watching everyone on the field regain their bearings as she speaks on her phone.

“I had a pretty good idea it would turn out this way,” I told her. “I wasn’t sure if Jewelyn would do it to save Lila or bring back Jb, but I figured something would push her this way. People like bad endings, but they like them less when it happens to established characters they’ve come to love.”

“You place high value on the power of stories.”

“Well, I am an author,” I say. “On that note, I better start preparing for the real final match!”

“You’re moving forward with the final match?” Veda asks.

“Oh, sure, I’m going to give everyone a break,” I say. “Lila and Jb will need to get back to where they mentally were, Lila especially, she’ll probably need to get comfortable hypnotizing people again, say maybe a week of having her spend quality time with someone?”

So we proceed to do a week time skip! Tomorrow, the real final match begins! Lila versus Jb, for reals this time! Will it go the same way as the very first match? We’ve seen more of what Jb can do, and now we know of her past as Jewelyn and how she’s a tragic villain. We’ve seen what Lila looks like corrupted, though, so votes could swap either way! One last match, one last vote, one last set of exhibitions. Watch for that tomorrow!

I believe the results from highest to lowest were Jb, Lila, evil Lila, and Jewelyn. People voted for the status quo, so that was the result, though I forget if the two Jb or two Lila got more votes, sadly I didn't keep those results.
The votes not only determined what the outcome was, but why.

Darmenzi grins as the corrupted Lila sings to the audience, tempting and beckoning them to come down and submit to her as their goddess. Darmenzi looks up at The Cloud in the narrator booth. It’s only a matter of time before that pest up there comes down to give in, as well.

(It’s me, they’re thinking of me. I’m not going to go down there, though.)

“You know you intensely want to, though,” Darmenzi says.

Nope. Totally not. I’m fine up here thanks. Besides, the votes are in.

“Votes? You surely don’t think Jewelyn can win over my Lila? She could hardly hope to win against your Lila.”

That wasn’t the vote.

Darmenzi turns at running footsteps and bends aside as someone lunges and grabs onto their staff.

“Turn me back, you creep!” Jewelyn shouts. “Jewelyn is dead! Make me Jb again!”

Darmenzi stands not much taller than Jb, but they lift their staff with her hanging on as if she’s no bigger than a bug.

“You’re a fool!” Darmenzi laughs. “You actually wish to go back to your cursed state?”

“I can’t go back! I no longer exist!” Jewelyn shouts. She grips the staff as if for dear life, even as Darmenzi tries to shake her off.

“You’ll sacrifice the lives Jb will take to be her again?” Darmenzi asks. “That’s cold. I like your spunk. But I’m afraid I have a new pet project now.” They spin their staff, yet Jewelyn somehow clings on. “Lila will be a greater goddess of seduction than you ever were! Why don’t I introduce you?”

Darmenzi growls as Jewelyn scrabbles against the crystal on their staff as if they could transform into Jb with it.

“Stop that. That’s me you’re scratching. Lila, my dear, could you take care of a pest for me?”

Lila turns to them and smiles.

“Oh, why Jewelyn, it’s you.” She lifts the end of her tail to Jewelyn. “Why don’t I show you what it’s like to be on the receiving end, hmm?”

As Lila grabs for her Jewelyn leans away and pulls her tail around Darmenzi’s crystal as if some sort of conductor.

She slams her forehead into the crystal with as much force as she can muster.

When the wave of shadow formed from the explosion of screeching magic subsides and light returns to the stadium, the audience murmurs confusion, unsure of what they were just doing.

Two lamias groan as they lay on the stage in a heap. Darmenzi stands over them and shakes their head.

“Jb, you are a pitiful fool.”

Jb opens one eye and looks at Darmenzi with a hot pink pupil.

“You rely on others too much. You take power from others, rather than create your own. When you lose that power, you scrabble to get it back rather than change your curse. And your course.”

They grin and lean down to her.

“You could have started a new life for yourself, you know. You could have saved Lila and removed my influence, rather than save Lila and take back my influence.” Next to Jb Lila groans, back to her normal self. “You’re just too addicted to the power and control my curse bestowed.”

They stand back up and frown at her for a moment before they chuckle. The chuckle grows into laughter before erupting into wild cackles, as if all the pain and suffering in the world told the most powerful joke in the universe. Darmenzi cackled to the heavens, and they slammed the stage floor with the bottom of their staff, disappearing in a warp of space that left their cackle echoing.

Jb rises on her tail and smiles.

This was the last time Top is mentioned at all, too. As for Mira, I had some idea with her showing up, but I decided not to do it, and I don't remember what that original plan was now.
As for the voting, I had a poll between Lila, evil Lila, Jb, and Jewelyn. #Hypnovember

Anyway, there are four choices in this round: Lila, Jb, Evil Lila, and Jewelyn. The first two will be combined, and the second two will be combined, to determine their fates: a vote for Lila or Jb is a vote to save Lila and bring back Jb, and a vote for evil Lila or Jewelyn is a vote to corrupt Lila and save Jewelyn! Will you vote to corrupt Lila, or save Lila? Will you vote to push Jewelyn to new confidence and save herself, or will you push her to become Jb again? It’s all up to you! Vote your conscience, or vote your libido!

I do quite like "This always happens, and I don’t want it to matter." Jewelyn loves to push as far as she can go. She's a tragic figure, but she's also not completely innocent. Does she wish she wasn't so pushy, so loose with boundaries, or would she prefer the other party just not be so weak?

Wren could hear the pleading in her voice. They felt sorry, which perhaps was why they didn’t realize the pleading said, “This always happens, and I don’t want it to matter.”

They tried again a few days later, and Wren said their safe word only minutes in.

They broke it off days later.

Just another break up in a long series for Jewelyn.

“It’s—It’s been so long,” Jewelyn says, back in the present. She looks away. “I completely forgot. I—forgot a lot of things.”

“Where have you been all this time?” Wren asks.

“I was—” Masquerading as a love goddess? Taking souls and destroying lives? Spending however long this tournament has lasted using Wren like a toy?

“That doesn’t matter now,” Jewelyn says. “There’s chaos outside. Practically an embodiment of chaos. We need to get somewhere safe and hide.” She looks around then back at Wren. She takes their hand and smiles. “Maybe—somewhere private until it blows over?”

Wren gasps and backs away from her.

“No—No, sorry, Jewelyn, I need to be—I—” Wren slides along the wall. “Listen, if you need help or something, there’s like, a robot, he helps someone who runs the tournament I think, I’m sure he’ll help you, I gotta go, I—I don’t know what happened that made you disappear but I hope you’ll be okay, maybe I’ll see you later!”

Wren sprints away, leaving Jewelyn a second time.

She stares after them.

Rejection—she hadn’t felt this in a long time.

For the moment she hates herself. When she remembered all those lives she took, she shed not a tear. But now, remembering all those rejections of herself—now the tears come.

She doesn’t know what to do.

Well, I know what you, the reader, should do! You should—Oh, hang on, I’m getting another call.

“Duth!” Veda shouts on a phone. “You’re going to have to do something! Lila’s corruption is too powerful, she’s on the verge of turning the entire audience here into a hypnotized cult, and with that lizard’s goading I doubt she’ll stop there!”

“Oh, that’s not a lizard, that’s Darmenzi,” I say. “They have the body of a verk’lon.”

“What?”

“Listen, no problem, just hunker down in your room, because I’ve got a plan!”

“Do you actually have a plan?” Veda asks, clear desire in her voice to have never met me.

“I believe I can legally call it a plan,” I say. “Legally speaking, I’m not sure I can call it much more than that.”

“For your sake, hope that Eduards’ mental defenses had better hold firm,” Veda says. “Should I lose him, I will use all my power to dissolve you.”

“Wait, I forget—seriously, you have no idea how often I forget what I’ve established in this project—do you think I’m actually a cloud or do you know I’m just hanging out inside of a facsimile of one?”

“Cloud or no cloud!”

“Okay, okay, I’m on it. I’m sure Top is helping, right?”

“Beyond all expectations, yes, they’re both working to barricade the audience from entering the field, but I do not know how long they can keep that up. Eduards has already had to grab Belle to stop her.”

“Wait, did Mira not get affected or something?”

“I did not see Mira out there.”

“Oh, maybe I retconned that because it’s easier this way.”

“What are you even talking about?”

“It’s hard being an author who’s hands-on with their world, okay???” I disconnect the line because that went on too long. Now what the hex was I writing?

Oh yeah! It’s time to vote again! Oh, but we can’t have the vote between Lila and Jb, they aren’t here! So instead the vote is between Lila and Jb or evil Lila and Jewelyn!

Hmm, evil Lila needs a name. Evilila? Evila? Viva La Vida? I’ll work on that.v

Maybe Jewelyn dated Wren for a week, maybe not. Honestly, I don't think Jb remembers anyone she broke up with. I think she probably went through 50 breakups, at least--it has to be a big number for her to be willing to sell her soul to end that heartache. Eventually they blurred together.

“Oh, all right,” Wren said. They watched as she pulled it behind Wren’s neck and flipped it around once. “That’s kind of a strange—” Wren wheezed as Jewelyn pulls the scarf tight and squeezed their neck. They didn’t expect a scarf. They thought it would’ve been cute if it weren’t so tight. Jewelyn pulled Wren up to their feet by the scarf and against her body, where she kissed them as she pulled the scarf around her to tie Wren against her.

Wren blushed as Jewelyn pulled their body against hers and slipped her tongue into Wren’s mouth with her kiss. Arms and legs immobile, trapped against Jewelyn and at her mercy, they relaxed and let her control them. Outside the brief pain, it felt nice letting her lead them around instead of having to take initiative.

Jewelyn whirled Wren back onto the couch and pressed her body over them, a knee pressed between Wren’s legs. She lifted a heart pendant on a string over Wren and swayed it back and forth.

“Now lets drop that pretty little mind of yours, Wren,” she said with a grin that bordered on sinister cat. Wren smiled.

“Sounds nice,” they said. They remembered this part of the discussion, they would play out a hypnosis scene. Well—Jewelyn had said she really would hypnotize Wren, but they assumed that was theatrics.

“Nice indeed,” Jewelyn said. She leaned close to Wren’s ear and whispered, “Just watch the heart sway, Wren, back and forth, back and forth. Lock your eyes to the heart . . . Lock your heart to this heart . . .”

Wren shivered as they felt Jewelyn’s breath in their ear. They hadn’t expected it to feel so visceral. If Wren didn’t know better they very well could have lost their train of thought stuck focused on the swaying heart.

“Back . . . forth,” repeated Jewelyn. “Thoughts coming so slowly now. It’s like time is slowing down. Back and forth, back and forth.”

Gradually Wren stopped thinking about how they were acting out hypnosis and instead throught about the heart, Jewelyn’s words and her breath, her hand sliding down Wren’s back, her body pressed against theirs, her leg pressed between theirs.

“Such a silly, fuzzy head, Wren,” Jewelyn said. Wren muttered a half-repeating response, eyes fluttering. “So sleepy now,” she purred. “Just dream about me, Wren.”

“Uh-huh,” Wren mumbled, head sinking against Jewelyn’s shoulder.

Jewelyn giggled into Wren’s ear, and her breath became a bite. She slid her hand from Wren’s back to their front as she climbed closer, sliding her other leg behind Wren’s lower back.

Wren gasped into a groggy wake as a wave of bites and squeezes covered their body. With a twinge they remembered where they were, the hypnosis scene—it wasn’t a scene, was it?—but before they could think about it Jewelyn shushed them and they drifted back towards sleep.

“Just relax, Wren,” Jewelyn said. “Let me be in control. Let my words be in control.”

Wren mumbled as their thoughts slid back into a Jewelyn focus, their self forgotten. Jewelyn’s words enclosed around their thoughts, but one word they’d chosen made itself heard.

“Pollyanna.” With that mumble Wren dropped into sleep.

Wren twinged awake at a repeated snap in their ear. They heard Jewelyn’s voice, shriller now. Something about something up.

“Wren, wake up! Did you say Pollyanna?”

“Uhh?” Wren jolted up as they remembered what happened. “Too much!” They gasped and shuffled away to the other end of the couch. “That was—I’m sorry, that was too much.”

“No, no, no, I’m sorry,” Jewelyn said. “I must have gone too far for you.” She whimpers. “I always do—I mean—no, that was just a fluke!” She leaned closer to Wren over the couch. “Just an unexpected mistake! I promise it won’t happen again, Wren. It won’t! I won’t get carried away like that again!”

So Jewelyn having previously dated Wren was kind of a necessity for the tournament, I needed someone Jewelyn had known and Wren was the obvious choice. I also needed to show a scene of Jewelyn showing what she can do for the sake of the voting.
However, in-canon, I don't see it as set in stone.

Meanwhile, away from divine doomsday, Jewelyn and Wren stare at each other.

“You—You know who I am?” Jewelyn asks.

“Yes,” Wren says, “Jewelyn, you—everyone thought you—well, you disappeared. All anyone ever found were your shoes—” Wren looks down “—which you appear to be wearing still, but I’m not going to question that—but, everyone assumed the worst!”

Jewelyn holds her head and tries to think. All she can remember is her treatment of Wren at the tournament as Jb. She covers her face with her hat when the thought makes her blush. Sure, yes, it was terrible, but it was still hot.

“I—I don’t—”

With no idea how long she’d been Jb, Jewelyn tries to remember back, past all the thralls as Jb, she tries to ignore all the souls she’d snuffed out over the years, try to think back before Jb, memories she hadn’t accessed in ages, how old was she even then, how old is she even now, remember, remember if Wren is familiar from that time at all.

Jewelyn’s eyes widen as she remembers.

She dated Wren.

“Are you ready, Wren?” Jewelyn leaned against them on the couch and pressed her body against them.

“Yeah,” Wren said. “I-I’m excited to see what you can do.”

Their heart raced as Jewelyn leaned close. Wren had started dating her about a week ago, hoping for something casual as an easy break from work. She’d handled the light show at a party Wren attended; they’d been overwhelmed with all the people and stayed against the wall until Jewelyn invited them to the controls for company.

She had a reputation for being passionate and strong. Some said overwhelming, but in a way Wren wanted that. They had so many responsibilities everyone kept piling on them at work, it sounded nice to be with someone who would take charge.

Yet as Jewelyn had explained everything Wren shivered, nervous. They wondered if they would like it, if Jewelyn might go too far. They had a safety word, but the thought of using it scared them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, though, and sometimes the best athletes and sailors had to test their limits.

“I’m ready,” Wren said. “What do you want me to do?”

“Just follow my lead,” Jewelyn said, “and kneel.” She shoved Wren forward and they fell to the floor. Not a long fall, but in the time it took Wren to get their bearings Jewelyn placed her foot on Wren’s back and pushed them into the floor. Wren wheezed and gasped to regain their breath.

“You cleaned your shoes, right?” Wren whined.

“Of course,” Jewelyn said. “I might have you lick them later.”

She reached down and pulled Wren’s hands together to tie them behind their back. Wren felt a jolt in their shoulder before they shifted it and wondered if they’d be sore in the morning. Wren quivered as Jewelyn walked her fingers up their leg under their skirt.

“Let’s see your legs, dear Wren.” She lifted Wren’s skirt over their waist and pinched and squeezed their fat thighs. She tickled her fingers over Wren’s skin, and they shivered. Jewelyn tied their feet together.

“How’s that?” Jewelyn asked.

“The ankles are a little sore,” Wren said, “but the wrists don’t feel too—” They groaned as Jewelyn pulled the rope tighter. “N-Never mind.” They wiggled under the binds and blushed at how little they could move.

Jewelyn shoved Wren onto their back with her foot and planted her foot on Wren’s chest. She grinned as she lifted a pink and red scarf.

“I think you’d look good with a scarf, Wren.”

“Yes goddess,” Alya says, eyes a whirlwind of endless Lila colors focused only on her, mouth an open grin wide enough to wrinkle Alya’s face. Lila curls around Alya as she continues to rub her body against her thrall, and she strokes Alya’s chin as she squeezes their faces next to each other.

“You want to show this audience how wonderful it is to worship me, don’t you?”

“Yeeesss goddesssss,” Alya sighs. Lila leans Alya back, rising over her as she squeezes her body around her. She wraps her tail around Alya’s hips and coils down, working her way around her long tail with her longer, thicker tail.

“You want to show everyone that submission, worship, lust for your glorious goddess feels divine in a way you can never come back from,” Lila purrs. “That you only want to give me your mind, let me hold it, mold it, craft it into a state of pure captivated lust, that you want nothing but to let me ravish your mind until you are but a vessel for my sultry words to fill and coax into obedient enthrallment.”

“Yesyesyesyes my goddess!” Alya says.

“Good,” Lila croons to her. She slips her new headphones over Alya’s ears. “Then let’s block out the world you once knew. It’s false, it’s painful, it’s nothing you want to know about anymore. You want to only be aware of your goddess now.”

“Yes . . .”

Lila sings, her words flowing out the microphone directly into Alya’s mind.

“There’s only one thing that you crave,

“Obey and serve me as my slave,

“Block your thoughts and become mine,

“Your goddess’ touch feels so divine,

“You want to love, worship, obey,

“Feel my control, and feel my sway,

“You know that you belong to me,

“Worship and you will be free,

“No more doubts, no more worry,

“No more thoughts, your mind is blurry,

“Your soul is mine for me to seize,

“Let me have my way with you, please.”

Lila’s tail reaches the end of Alya’s, curled hip to tip, yet more than half of Lila’s tail remains. She chuckles and wraps an arm around Alya’s shoulders, squeezing her face against her breasts. No thought crosses Alya’s mind now but submission to, worship of, and arousal from every bit of Lila, from her silky hair to her glorious eyes to her soft skin to her thick curves to her intoxicating aroma to her enchanting kiss to her hypnotic, addictive scales over her heavy, divine tail.

Lila looks to the audience.

“This awaits you, one and all,

“When you submit and be my thrall,

“You know you want to worship me,

“And feel, like Alya, bliss and glee,

“No need to wait, just listen deep,

“As my words put you to sleep,

“And draw you under hypnotic control,

“Then I’ll beckon you come and give me your soul.”

Lila smirks and hooks her finger to the audience and beckons them come down. Some stand and make their way to the exits to enter the field, some stumbling over themselves in a stupor. Others remain seated but sway, twitching between standing and resisting.

They can’t resist forever . . .

The Match of Fates. The evil Lila is replacing the kind one, and Jb is gone as Jewelyn is back.
Lila's scales have a hypnotic effect, but in this new form the touch is enough to drop someone fairly quickly. She also has five hypnosis colors, two more than three. Oh, and her hair is prehensile.

The previous evil Lila art, with other art of normal Lila disappearing under it. Below this is Jb's art, grayed out, next to Jewelyn's art from previous. A big question mark is overlayed in the middle.

The first thing Alya feels when Lila grabs her around the neck with her tail is choking. Lila squeezes tight with a grip declaring ownership.

The second thing Alya feels happens at the same time and erases her sense of choking, as Lila’s scales stroke around her skin and her thoughts swirl into dazed mush, hypnotic waves pulsing through her body and silencing all thoughts not focused on how soft, silken, cool and enchanting her scales feel, despite how tight she grips her neck.

Alya’s eyes drift shut, and when she opens them they pulse with rings of gentle lavender, soft blue, deep purple, penetrating red-violet, and thought-crushing dark purple. She smiles wide, Lila’s scales having hypnotized her before she can even look into her eyes.

Lila drags Alya onstage and wraps her in her arms, giggling as she looks into Alya’s eyes with her own pulsing in her new set of five hypnotic colors.

“You fell so quick for me, Alya,” Lila says. She leans closer and purrs, “You must be so eager to be an obedient slave for your goddess, aren’t you?”

Alya moans and whimpers until Lila releases her tail from around her neck.

“Yyyyesssyesyesyesgoddess.”

“Good. Then let’s give this audience a show, so they know what to expect when they fall under my spell, too.”

She pulls Alya close and kisses her lips, pouring hypnotic pulses through Alya’s head. Lila squeezes Alya in her arms as she rubs her chest and hips and scaly body against her, violet mist surrounding them and soaking through Alya’s senses until she’s aware only of Lila, nothing more. Alya’s mind collapses into surrender, every thought turned to obeying and worshiping Lila in any and every way she can. Lila’s hair twists up and curls around Alya like a tentacle, squeezing her tighter in Lila’s grasp. Alya’s mind softens, thoughts molded into obedient shape and hardened into submissive form. Lila slithers her long tongue around Alya’s and strokes and explores her, a tongue length unfamiliar to Lila, but one she’s sure she’ll have plenty of practice with.

Lila pulls back from the kiss, letting her tongue wind out of Alya’s mouth, and she giggles as she presses closer around Alya.

“You’re happy to be my very first hypnotized slave, aren’t you, Alya?”

It's actually unclear how much of this is latent within Lila and how much is Darmenzi controlling her, but I'll confirm that Jb was always Jewelyn. Darmenzi needed no mental manipulation to get her to do what she did.
As for Lila, the fact that she was already a lamia means she's even more powerful

“And these I imagine are like Jb’s as well,” Lila says, running a hand over a lavender shoulder pod. She squeezes it and a violet mist sprays out. “Ooh yes, sweet and intoxicating.”

“It can glow and pulse a pattern, as well,” Darmenzi says.

“So it can!” Lila says. Violet-blue rings pulse over the shoulder pods with a glow as drawing as a snake’s eyes. “I don’t even have to do anything. Just one look at me and people will know”—she grins and lifts her hands—“I am a goddess to be worshiped.”

She removes a pair of headphones from around her neck and looks at Darmenzi.

“And these?”

“Jb had her goggles,” Darmenzi says. “You have a natural talent for singing, though, so just slip those over someone’s ears and all they’ll know is your hypnotic melody.”

“Oh yes, this is wonderful,” Lila says. “I simply must try out these toys on someone.” She scans the field and spies Alya, standing and watching her with a blushing smile. “Oh yes, Alya!”

“O-Oh, hi Lila!” Alya says. She waves. “Your new look is—it’s fantastic, I just love it–”

Lila wraps her tail around Alya’s neck and drags her onto the stage.

Jewelyn slams the door behind her and shrinks away along the wall, panting. She doesn’t know what to do next. All she knows is she can’t go back out there—not right now. Not with Darmenzi there, not with whatever they did to Lila out there.

Maybe she can lay low for a bit, then when it seems like everyone’s leaving after the tournament’s end—would the finale be cancelled? It doesn’t matter. If she can slip out, maybe find her way home, maybe she can resume her life. Maybe. How long has she been Jb? Time didn’t seem to pass for her. What year was she from? Jewelyn couldn’t remember anymore. Maybe Darmenzi, or that cloud, or something pulled her into another universe.

She couldn’t worry about that now. Lay low, wait, then try to get home and figure out where to go from there.

She walks down a hall, torn between strolling and sprinting, between looking nonchalant and fleeing somewhere to hide.

As she turns a corner she stumbles over somebody.

“Ow! Hey, slow down and watch where you’re—”

“Sorry, sorry, sorry, Wren,” Jewelyn says, “I’m in a hurry, and, uh—” Wren stares at her as if they’d seen a ghost. “Is something wrong?”

“Jewelyn?” Wren shouts.

“What?” Jewelyn asks.

Well! A lot has happened, let’s stop here! We can’t very well have the vote between Lila and Jb without our regular Jb and beyond regular Jb, so hang on for a day while I figure out how to proceed with the vote. Maybe we’ll learn more about Jewelyn tomorrow, and maybe we’ll see what this new Lila can do . . .

Anyway, speaking of rush jobs, the goddess!Lila art by @cartoonzombie.bsky.social was even more of a rush job, IIRC! In fact this is kiiind of an unfinished design, there was art of her later that uses a more finalized design, which is the design described in the story.

As noted, this design wasn't completely finalized. Her full design is described in the tournament, so I won't go over it again here.

Lila stretches, arching her bare back and raising her arms attired in silken gloves. Her tail spills over the stage like a geyser, coils flowing out as if endless. The stage creaks at the weight, at its widest her snake body twice as thick as she was. Her hair flows behind her, curled in a thick set of coils past her hips, thick and tight enough to hold a full grown human in her dark, purple, luminescent locks.

“This—” Lila looks over her body. “This feels absolutely incredible.” Her voice comes out in a purr, every word like chocolate honey. She holds her head. “I feel such power coursing through me, like I could drop the strongest will with a single glance. I can see it now, the colors warping mortal minds, all falling before me.”

She sweeps her hands down to examine her body, stroking her breasts to see how much they’ve grown, as big as Jb’s were. Her dress transformed into a tight, glittering two piece, the top backless and sleeveless. She’s squeezed into it to the point she’s unsure if she could even take it off, but she has no thought to: it perfectly accentuates her figure, breasts full and prominent regardless of the tight outfit. It sparkles as if covered in jewels, creating a twirling spiral pattern when she moves.

Lila lowers her examination past her bare midriff and to her scaly hips, squeezed into a tight bottom with a low cut top at the front and back. So tight against the base of her snake body it underlines how thick her body grows, wider even than Jb’s hefty body, expanding past her hips until thick enough to swallow an adult human with just a few coils. Even now her tail spills off the stage to the ground around it.

With a brief touch of her scales Lila can hypnotic waves, soft yet overwhelming like creamy soap that drags someone in. With one touch she could draw someone under her spell. She pulls her tail closer and rests her elbows on it, smirking as she puckers her violet lips and winks to the audience, blue eyeshadow bringing out new colors in her eyes, unless her eyes just shift through blue and violet and black now.

The audience, which seemed to be in a silent state of shock, seems to collectively inhale as Lila poses with her tail, rubbing her body along it and laying back.

“So sorry for the wait, my dears,” Lila says, “bear with silly me while I get accustomed to my changes, hmm?”

As she rises she examines the collars over her arms like Jb had, blue with a swirl pattern and purple with a flower pattern.

“Hypnotic like Jb’s, I presume?” Lila asks. Darmenzi nods.

“One to drown their minds, one to entangle it.”

I ended that story with a little poem from Darmenzi's perspective. I'm not sure if I was going to append this little story to the end of it, but I'd planned to get Jewelyn's art after that story. When I came up with this idea, I rushed to get it made.

She cried out for help.

She cried out for a companion who would stay.

Or she cried out for a way to keep a companion.

Anything.

Eventually she settled. Her heart sank into a familiar pit—familiar but hurt all the same. She regained her composure, assured those who passed by she was all right, even if the red around her eyes suggested otherwise.

The night swallowed up the night as she sat on the bench.

That was when they arrived.

A tall man—or woman—or human—or something—in a dark cloak. They carried a staff ending in a crystal, darker than night yet sparkled with colors of every possibility.

They did not ask if she was all right.

They said they could help her.

They said they could give her the power to keep, hold, own a lover.

For the rest of that lover’s life.

She didn’t believe them at first, but they showed her visions of grandeur, of lovers, her pick from all the world. She could feel it for real, her mind sensed every touch, the scent, the taste of lips. The figure showed her their power. Anything imagined could be imagined into reality.

All she had to do was agree. Shake their hand, and they would make it so.

Jewelyn curled on the bench in thought. Every lover she’d ever dated passed through her mind. Every rejection. Everyone who had passed her that evening, asked if she was okay, but didn’t stay to make sure.

She wanted to cry again.

She wanted nothing more than to never cry again.

Jewelyn stood up off the bench, and she shook the stranger’s scaly hand with three hooked fingers.

No one ever saw Jewelyn Blovulena again.

They did, however, find her shoes.

The shadowy waves disperse throughout the stadium, and light trickles back over the stage. Jb stumbles away from Darmenzi as she trips over her feet, and she sways at the edge of the stage.

So many things feel wrong at that moment, but her feet jump out at her as a major contradiction. She looks down at her pink boots strapped with red hearts. Above them her legs are held in white and purple stockings.

Jb tries very hard to focus on breathing. She does so for two reasons.

First, for a moment she found herself completely unable to breathe.

Second, it distracted her from the fact she was no longer Jb.

Jewelyn takes a deep gasp as she hyperventilates, body trembling in violent quakes. She stares at Darmenzi, eyes wide behind her striped pink and red glasses.

“You—”

She gasps some more.

“You changed– changed– changed—” She gasps. “You—changed—me—back.”

Darmenzi grins.

“I said I would remove the curse. You will no longer die without someone to worship you. You are no longer a love goddess, Jewelyn.” They scoff. “Not that you ever were, my dear.”

Jewelyn presses her hands to her face. She races them down her body, her legs, her hips, her chest, normal, she’s human again, she’s no longer a cursed snake love goddess.

She laughs.

“I’m back. I’m me again. I’m Jewelyn again. I’m—I’m—I’m—”

She stares at Darmenzi’s piercing, crooked grin, and she screams and runs. She runs from Darmenzi like she wished she had so long ago.

She runs faster and grips her heart hat when she hears a cackle, a familiar voice, once sweet, now deeper, louder, still with a melody but now one that commands thoughts, a twist to it that suggests a purpose of lustful subjugation.

She knows what Darmenzi did.

She can’t face that.

She escapes into the dwelling building as the smoke around the stage clears to reveal a lamia.

Before this tournament I didn't plan to reveal Jewelyn until Jb's big 6-chapter story, Theft Divine of Heart and Mind.

The lights blinked—or rather a flash of darkness spread throughout the stage as a fierce cackle brought the crowd to a standstill. Smoke burst from the stage’s center, and when it cleared Darmenzi stood between the two lamias.

Because of course Darmenzi was going to make a loud entrance.

“Ladies.” Darmenzi bows to Lila and Jb, and they grin their crooked, sharp chameleon grin. “Let me congratulate you on reaching so far in the tournament.” Their eyes twist and one each aims at Lila and Jb. “Ah, and I see your hands are out to finalize our agreement. The classic shake.” They cross their arms and hold their far hands out to Lila and Jb. “Do we have a deal?”

At once Lila and Jb grab Darmenzi’s hands and shake.

“We have a deal!”

They look at each other, eyebrows raised.

“Wait–”

“–what?”

The stage explodes in twisting darkness obscuring the field. Lila’s and Jb’s screams drown out everything in the stadium, and only Darmenzi’s laughter rises above it.

Darkness swallows the stadium.

Clearing in a park with a bench, a tree behind it with shrubbery in the background and a fence past that. A figure, Jewelyn, sits on the bench, her face a sad smile. She has dirty blonde hair tied into a side ponytail with heart hair ties. She wears a red heart hat and round red glasses. Her tight dress is white with red and pink hearts scattered across it, long-sleeved and down to her thighs, fairly tight around her hips and thighs. She's holding a golden object in her hands (a heart pendant). She wears pink and white striped stockings and thick pink boots halfway up to her knee with five straps on each, a heart on each strap. In the darkness of the background is a figure in a dark clock and an evil smile, holding a staff with a crystal at the end.

Once upon a time, there was a young lady named Jewelyn Blovulena.

Jewelyn was a lonely child, and as she grew up she found herself on an endless march for companionship. She dated anyone who would accept, seeking the perfect partner, but every time it would end in disaster. She looked cute, many said. She was precious. She had many suitors early on. A pattern emerged, however, that left her alone.

Fear.

As shy as she was in public, in private Jewelyn was a tight controller. She overwhelmed, overbore on her partners, and when matters arrived in the bedroom, her fierce style would scare her dates. Dominant as could be, Jewelyn was rough. She gripped her partners tight; she squeezed them, stepped on them, bit them, smothered and tied and choked them. She hypnotized them with pendulums, spirals, touches and kisses, emptying their minds and using them as a puppet.

As much as her partners consented, as much as they thought they wanted it, could handle it, even as she stopped the moment they spoke their safe word, inevitably she would be too much for them. Inevitably they would leave.

She couldn’t change who she was. She rationalized that she just needed to find someone compatible, someone brave enough to handle her fierce strength. Yet she remained needy, lonely, and she began to despair of ever finding someone to be with for longer than a week.

One evening she strolled through the park with her latest partner. She had a special locket to give them, but as she was about to they spoke the words she heard so often. They couldn’t handle her. She was too much for them. They, like so many others, left her.

Hearts can only break so many times. Scars can only heal so many times. How many more times, before she would give up on romance for good?

It occurs to me these predictions were both to shed light on the competitors and to shed light on those making the predictions, since their own biases come into play.

“Don’t beat yourself up, dear,” Maestra says. “You did exceptional. I haven’t met Jb directly, but I suspect she has more up that shoulder pod of hers than she’s letting on. She already showed us that as her matches went on. I think she has a last surprise to wow the audience away.” She sips her tea. “Lila will wow the audience as well, but Jb continues to pull out surprises. I think she’ll do better than her first match.”

“Maybe,” Mira says, “but without that surprise Lila has it. She can put on a show, and she can be feisty if she needs be.”

“She already was when she faced Jb round one,” Ageul says. “Remember, the focus of those was to hypnotize the other competitor. She actually managed that with Jb, something Jb would generally do with her opponents after that.”

“Which means she’ll try again,” Maestra says. “She may have been toying with Lila in round one. She may bring all her powers and tools into their match now.”

“She will,” Mira says. “There’s no doubt she’ll pull out all the stops. But Lila has a gift for the crowd. She’s shy, like you Ageul, but when facing a crowd her talents emerge and free her.”

“That’s true,” Maestra says. “If she can put on a better show than Jb, she can still win again. I’m excited to see how it all plays out.”

“On that note,” Belle says, “what are you all planning on doing after the tournament?”

“Oh, we’re all returning home, aren’t we?” Maestra says.

“Yeah,” Ageul says. “I miss the wide open swamps.”

“This stadium is confining,” Mira says. “I’m eager to go home, too.”

“I hope I get to see you all one last time before the end, then,” Belle says. “Thank you for one last interview. Lila and Jb’s initial stage presentation is set to begin soon, so I’ve got to get back out there.” As she stands, Mira rises too.

“I’ll go with you,” Mira says. “I’d like to see how it goes.”

Out on the stadium stage Lila and Jb stand, waving to the audience. Lila winks to them while Jb blows kisses. Above them neon lights flash, blue and purple and pink and red. The audience cheers, a mixture of encouragement for both Lila and Jb as the two lamias twirl and pose.

Fanfare bursts across the stadium, and a drumroll leads into the creak of an accordion as Top rolls in front of the stage. Top spins and plays the accordion as they sing.

“The final fight is here, so everybody cheer, it’s almost done, we’ve had such fun, for our finalists let’s hear! . . . it!”

Top rolls away as a harp rolls the music down. The lights focus on Lila.

“It’s been an honor to perform and entertain you all,

“Thank you for all your support, I’m honestly in awe.

“It makes me happy to make you smile,

“And hear you cheer my style.

“I never could ask for anything more—”

Jb bumps Lila aside as the music roars higher and she begins a deep singing.

“Just wait for what we got in store!”

The lights turn to Jb as she shakes and twirls.

“We’re at the final match and so,

“We’re gonna give you such a show,

“What do you want? Oh yes, I know,

“That glorious, elating, so fascinating, alluring, assuring, obedience-securing, mind-warping, enchanting, romancing, one glance and you’re trancing,

“Hypnooooo’!

“(‘Sis, that is.)”

The music concludes, and the lights lose their color, moving to shine on both competitors. Lila stares at Jb as she pants and waves for the crowd’s applause. She frowns and looks down to hide her expression—and her doubt—from Jb and the audience.

“So!”

Lila twitches and looks at Jb, who smiles and holds out a hand.

“Are you ready?” she asks. Lila steels her face and nods, sure of her course now.

“Yes. I’m ready.” She reaches out to shake Jb’s hand and officially enter the final round.

“She don’t gotta do it to the whole crowd,” Amaru says, “she just has to convince them that’s what they want, and she’s got persuasion in spades.”

“Believe it or not, I’m sure the crowd is smarter than that,” Erada says. “Lila is a crowd pleaser.”

“You say that like Jb isn’t a big crowd pleaser,” Amaru says.

“Let me finish,” Erada says, “you do talk too much. Lila lives off of pleasing a crowd, which is to say, she makes a living from building a fanbase with her songs. What you and Jb don’t understand is that sort of need, to have success on the line. You and Jb just play around, no stakes, no consequences, you don’t have to take a customer’s order because you can order the customer instead. Jb has a little more stakes, since she needs people to worship her to survive, but that still involves not pleasing them but rather making them please her.” Amaru smiles and scratches her hair.

“Okay, okay, when you put it that way I see your point,” Amaru says. “Still, I think Jb will win it, after all a lot of the voters want to please someone as much as they want to be pleased, for some it’s even the same thing, don’t you think?” Erada laughs.

“All right, there might be enough voters for that to be the case. Lila isn’t very commanding, that’s true. I believe she can be if someone wants that, but she hasn’t shown it off as of yet.”

“As of yet, right,” Amaru says, “we still gotta see how their exhibitions will go, for all we know they might try to take from the other and show a different side of them.”

“I wouldn’t go that far,” Erada says. “I don’t see Jb trying to play it soft, and I don’t think Lila can go as hard as Jb does.”

“Could be, we’ll have to see.”

“Thank you for the insight,” Belle says. “I hope work goes well, Erada, and I hope it goes well for you after the tournament, Amaru.”

They thank Belle, and she leaves for the last interview.

Belle sits at a table in the bright, cozy, web-covered room of Maestra’s. Ageul and Mira sits to her sides, while Maestra sits across from her and pours her a cup of tea as she looks to the camera.

“I’m here in Ms. Maestra’s room along with Ms. Mira and Ms. Ageul Vodá. As you may know, Mira and Ageul were semifinalists, having been eliminated by Lila and Jb, respectively. They also faced each other earlier in the tournament where they initially tied before an extended vote gave Mira the win. Maestra, meanwhile, was eliminated earlier by Enna and Dragovoir.” She turns to the others. “Have you had regular tea with Maestra here? Mira, I believe you mentioned it before.”

“Oh yes, Mira and Lila have been good guests here before,” Maestra says. “Alya as well, before she was sadly locked away. I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting Ageul before, but I’m quite glad to now.”

“Yeah,” Ageul says, squeezing her hair—light brown like the tea. “I haven’t really been over here, but Ms. Maestra is a wonderful host.”

“So, Mira, you’ve faced Lila, and Ageul, you’ve faced Jb,” Belle says. “Between you do you think we can determine who will win the tournament? Mira, I know you’ve said you don’t make predictions, but it is the final match, so humor me for this, if you will.” Mira smirks.

“Very well, Belle, if you insist. To reach the finals they’re both very strong competitors. Some would say Jb is stronger, but that’s only at surface level. Lila has a backing of the crowd that Jb has to fight to obtain—and fight she has, but I don’t think it will be enough.”

“Yes,” Ageul says, “Jb is powerful, but Lila is also kind. She has fun with people, not at their expense like Jb.” She looks down and squeezes her hands together. “If I had remembered that in my last exhibition, maybe I would be up there instead.”

“As I understand it you’ll be released after the tournament,” Belle says. “Any plans?”

“Back to work for us,” Fara says. “This tournament put us behind schedule.”

“Ah-ah.” Alya waves a finger. “I still get that week off, remember?”

“I certainly do not remember any such foolish thing,” Fara says.

“Hah! You can threaten my life, but you won’t threaten my time off. I got the party all planned out already.” She slithers to the bars and winks to Belle. “And remember, you’re definitely invited, Belle.”

Belle blushes and looks away as she inhales.

“Yes, right, thank you, Alya.” She clears her throat. “Thank you for meeting with me, ladies, I’m sure it’s tough being cooped up inside here. Perhaps I’ll see you after the tournament, but for now I have another interview to conduct.”

“Anytime, Ms. Peltonen,” Dr. Fara says. She smiles. “Always a pleasure to get my face on the news.”

“An absolute pleasure indeed,” Alya says. She blows a kiss to Belle. “Until the party, sweetie.”

Belle returns to her interview tent and turn on a screen above the table, on which Erada appears in her shop speaking on a phone.

“Listen, listen, I’m telling you I did not put anything in that potion that was not asked for. No, no, I did not trick your partner, I did not curse or drug her, she came to the conclusion she was a transgender slime girl all on her own, and if you can’t handle the fact she had been hiding that revelation from herself all these years then you’re going to have to search inside yourself and figure out what prevents you from enjoying seeing people be happy.”

As Erada speaks on the phone Belle knocks on a dragon-molded pot next to the table.

“We’re ready up here, Amaru.”

The pot lid bursts up and Amaru rises from inside.

“Imaynallan, Belle! Lovely to see you again!” She glances at the screen with Erada and leans closer to Belle. “Really? Her?”

“You both practice magic, I thought it would fit a theme,” Belle said.

“My lady, I do not practice magic,” Amaru says, “I command it!”

“You are it,” Erada says. The others turn to her, off the phone and leaning back in her chair. “You command magic the way the seas command water: not at all. The sea is water; the winds command it.”

“Erada.” Amaru settles into a seated position in the air. “How’s business?”

“Fantastic,” Erada says. “Though it’s slowed down a little since I got back, I guess the boon from the tournament won’t last forever. How about you?”

“Well, I’m still at the tournament, so I’ve only done a few minor tasks of late.”

“Okay,” Belle says as she takes a seat, “let’s try to be friendly for this, okay?” She looks at the camera. “As a brief overview, both Erada Lielayn and Amaru here were eliminated round one, Erada by the spider Maestra and Amaru by semifinalists Ageul.” She looks at Amaru. “What are your plans after the tournament, anyway?”

“I’ll let the winds take me where they—” She glares at Erada, who grins. She pounds the table. “That was not intended to play into your metaphor. The point is, my pot will trade hands as usual and I’ll grant wishes as they come. I never have a goal in mind, although”—she taps her cheek—“I hear they’re making a new Godzilla film over in Japan, maybe I’ll pop over and see if I can’t sneak an early look at what they got so far.”

“Neat,” Belle says. “So, we’re entering the final match now. What are your thoughts on how the final match will go?”

“Jb has it, Jb is going to win,” Amaru says, “she has the power and she’ll show it, I know, I’ve no doubt she’ll woo the crowd under her spell this time.”

“Not going to happen,” Erada says. “Lila is the one who knows how to woo a crowd. Jb only knows how to bludgeon someone’s mind with hypnotic sex. Effective for one person, but not so much a crowd.”

Belle interviews the tournament ne'er-do-wells. Dr. Fara may not respect stable time loops, but she knows when one is barely stable.
Okay, maybe Alya isn't blasé or dumb, she just thinks Dr. Fara is cool and that supersedes everything else.

Belle looks at them.

“How did that come about, by the way?”

“Time shenaginags,” Dr. Fara says. “Can’t even say who came up with the idea first, since Revasa told me and then I told Revasa, who in turn went back to tell me what I told her, which I’d first heard from her. And since all the snake does is warp time without any real finesse to it, it’s barely a stable time loop.”

Revasa hisses from her cell.

“So you don’t really know,” Belle says. Fara grins.

“Precisely.”

Belle clears her throat and turns back to the camera.

“Alya made it a couple rounds, but in round three she lost to semifinalist Mira, then Ageul in her next match. It was in this second match that Dr. Fara recruited her assistant into the plot, but it seems she had betrayal in mind, as Revasa wanted revenge, or at least to make a meal of her.” Belle turns to Alya. “How do you feel about that betrayal?” Alya waves a hand.

“Ah, it’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last. That’s why she’s so cool, though.”

“Thank you,” Fara says.

“What’s your take on all this, Revasa?” Belle asks. Revasa digs into her coils.

“She’s been sulky,” Alya says. “I keep offering to let her hypnotize me to cheer her up and she just hisses at me.”

“I imagine she would want to punctuate such a thing with a meal,” Belle says.

“Well, I’d offer that, too,” Alya says, “but we’re stuck behind bars.”

Belle stares at her.

“That betrayal really didn’t matter to you, huh?”

“Well, she has said she can eat someone then reverse time so she didn’t,” Alya says. “I say: sounds fun!”

“Let’s shift gears,” Belle says. “How do you think the final match will go?”

“Well, I’ve been able to get intimate with both competitors,” Alya says. She smirks. “And I’m sure to again one more time. This is a tougher call to make than you’d think, because Lila won the first round, but Jb has so many more tools and powers at her disposal. Yet Lila has a way that makes you just want the best for her, and makes you want to please her.” She rubs her chin. “Well, okay, so does Jb, but Jb’s is mind control. Lila is just so precious you want good things for her.”

“Someone’s manipulating behind the scenes,” Fara says. “They’re going to pull strings to make sure Jb wins.”

“Are you sure?” Belle asks.

“Well,” Fara says, “their plan may be an enigma. I know mine often are.”

“It’s true,” Alya says. “She often doesn’t know her plan until a few hours after it’s commenced.”

“Still, they’re manipulating things,” Fara says, “and evidence points to them backing Jb. Were it not for that I would say the propensity of the voters to choose the goody-goody competitor would give it to Lila.”

“What do you think, Revasa?” Belle asks.

“I think I couldn’t care lesss even if you let me eat you!” Revasa says.

“Noted,” Belle says. She turns back to the other two. “So Lila if the game is fair, and Jb if the game is rigged?”

“That’s a fair assessment,” Fara says.

“Now Alya,” Belle says, “you’re not going to try anything in the finals, are you?” Alya crosses her arms.

“Of course not. I’m just going to enjoy myself.” She blushes and presses her hands to her face. “Another trip down Lila Land, and another bout of hypnotic worship with Jb.” She sighs and scrunches her body. “Gourd, Jb is hot. You know what, I don’t care how precious Lila is, I want Jb to win.”

“Of course,” Fara says. “The villain is always the cooler choice.”

“Or hotter, in this case,” Alya says.

I think Dr. Fara is more of a villain than Jb, but it's close. Jb will die if she doesn't do what she does, and Fara wasn't tricked and cursed, though she is mad so she's not always in control of her actions.
I like this analysis of Jb from Persnakety. Oh yeah! Both Vil and Persnakety know Veda!

“Jb hasn’t tried to upturn the tournament, though,” Belle says. “Despite her methods she’s considered a competitor in good standing.”

“I suppose she has to be to remain in the tournament,” Vil says.

“Now she faces Lila again,” Belle says. “How do you think the final match will go?”

“I can’t even begin to guess,” Hilja says. “I hope Lila wins, though.”

“Lila is a comforting presence,” Persnakety says. “Amorous though the voters may be, comfort always wins out in that choice. I believe Lila will win.”

“Jb is a powerful presence,” Vil says. “Yet her power has limits, and that power seems artificial. Lila is, in the end, more genuine a person, and people respond more readily to genuine affability. Jb isn’t cold, by any means, but her genuine nature leans more towards commanding lust, and yet even that is a façade she puts on.” They look to Persnakety. “What are your thoughts? Is she hiding her true self from the crowd, or from herself?”

“You’ve faced her more closely than I have,” Persnakety says. “That said, from what I’ve seen of her, I get the feeling that she’s afraid of stopping. She’s afraid that if she ever stops she might have to take stock of what she’s done, and that she might not be able to start again.”

“That’s deep,” Belle says. “I wonder what’s underneath all those layers she has on top.”

“Maybe nothing,” Hilja says, pulling at her sweater dress. “She doesn’t seem to have much of a layer on the very top.”

“Are you all going to stay for the final match?” Belle asks.

“Of course,” Vil says. “Hilja and I will be here to show our support to Lila.”

“I was afraid I would be called back to watch over the cabin I was put in charge of,” Persnakety says, “but it seems the proprietor is a guest of the tournament.”

“Yes, we discovered something quite interesting,” Vil says, “it turns out we have a mutual friend.”

“I wouldn’t sssay friend,” Persnakety says, shifting on the coil hanger, “she’s an acquaintance at bessst, really she’s more of a manager.”

“Aren’t you the manager since you manage the cabin?” Hilja asks.

“I guess, but she’s in charge.”

“It’s a small world, then,” Belle says. “Glad to hear you’ll all be staying.” She stands off the couch. “It’s been a pleasure speaking with you all, I hope I’ll see you again soon. Wish me luck on the next interview, because I’m heading for the darker area of the stadium.”

“All right, I’ll tell you! Dr. Ether bought those chemicals from me! But her lawyer wrote up a contract detailing in fine legalese why it was actually totally legal!”

Belle stares at Dr. Fara.

“I’m here to discuss the tournament with you.”

“Oh, right,” Fara says. “In that case, never mind. I don’t even know a Dr. Ether.”

Belle sits in a chair outside the jail cells. Dr. Fara, Alya, and Revasa are each in one, each in chains, Dr. Fara seated on air, Alya seated on her tail, and Revasa curled up on a broken, buckled bed. Belle turns to the camera.

“I’m here in the stadium prison to speak with Dr. Emma Fara, her assistant Alya Slacen, and the time manipulation snake Revasa. The three ended up involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the tournament, started after Dr. Fara lost to the two snakes, first Persnakety and then Revasa. She vowed revenge and tried to kill them, but after Revasa lost first to Alya and then to Ageul she made a truce with the doctor and joined her quest for revenge.”

Of course, in that case Dragovoir would certainly part ways with Enna, in order to visit another Dream World.
Ah, here I utilized the room layouts, Persnakety stayed right across the hall from Vil, so Dragovoir and Ageul must have been in that sector too.

“I don’t think Jb was even using her full power at the beginning,” Anne says. “She didn’t show off most of her tools and talents until later. She can sing stronger than Lila, and as much as Lila can win the crowd to her side Jb can control them to her side. I believe Jb will turn this around.”

“It sounds like you’re evenly split,” Belle says. “Are you all staying around for the final round?”

“Of course,” Dragovoir says. “I’m eager to start traveling again, but I want to see how this ends!”

“I don’t got anything better to do,” Enna says.

“And I would like to meet the winner after,” Anne says. “Of course, I’ve met Jb in the hall of our residential rooms since she’s my neighbor, so we’ve become a little familiar, but a more formal meeting to discuss their plans after would be beneficial to us both, I think.”

“Good stuff,” Belle says. “Speaking of, I’ve set up an appointment to meet some other competitors in one of their rooms, so I’ll see you all later. Thank you for sitting down to talk again.”

Belle sits on a lavish sofa in an ornate room styled in dark reds and violets. Plush rugs spread across the floor, and paintings of snakes and bats and birds decorate the walls. Next to her sits Hilja, while in a couple fixtures hanging from the ceiling like chandelier coat racks curl Vil in snake form and Persnakety.

“I’m here in Vil Garrido’s rooms to meet with the vampires of our tournament, Vil and Hilja. It seems I’ve arrived as they have another visitor, one of the snakes of the tournament, Persnakety. Do you know each other?”

“Not before this tournament, no,” Vil says.

“Truth be told I was rather intimidated by Mx Garrido at first,” Persnakety says. “Seeing as their room is across the hall from mine, it was inevitable that we would meet, though, and they’re much friendlier and gentle than I would have expected.”

“Vil is imposing,” Hilja says, “but they never impose.” Vil frowns and tilts their head.

“Well, not anymore.”

“We all have skeletons in our closets, so to speak,” Persnakety says.

“Really?” Vil says. “I wouldn’t take you for the type, Persnakety.”

“Well . . .” Persnakety looks away. “One time I did—oh dear, this is nerve-wracking to say, but—one time I was cleaning the cabin I watch over sometimes, and I—I just swept the dust right under the rug!”

Belle stifles a laugh.

“Don’t worry, Persnakety,” Hilja says, “we don’t think any less of you.”

“Thank you,” Persnakety says.

Belle turns back to the camera brought to Vil’s room.

“Now, those who have been following the tournament know, but Vil and Hilja faced each other in the first round, much to their discomposure. Mentor and pupil supported each other, though, and Vil took the win. They proceeded to lose against Lila, then lose against Jb, who had beaten Hilja in her previous match.” Vil smiles.

“With those opponents,” Vil says, “we never stood a chance.”

“We really did face the finalists early on, did we?” Hilja says. “I guess the cards were against us in this tournament.”

“Still, we had fun,” Vil says, “although I would have liked to see you and Lila sing a duet.” Hilja laughs and blushes.

“No, no, I’d have been no good at that,” Hilja says.

“I’ve heard you sing,” Vil says, “you have a marvelous voice for it.” Hilja covers her face.

“As for Persnakety,” Belle says, “he made it to round two before losing to first Alya and then the other snake in the tournament, Revasa.” She looks at Persnakety. “Say, those two are locked up, now.”

“Ah, true,” Persnakety says. “My first match was against Dr. Fara as well.” He shakes his head. “Why did I have to face all the villains?”

“Not all the villains,” Hilja says.

“Oh, yes, that’s true,” Persnakety says. “I suppose together we all faced the villains, Dr. Fara’s group and then Jb.”

Before we get to the final match, a series of interviews with all the competitors to get their thoughts on the tournament and their future plans, as if the canonicity of this tournament weren't in a bubble.
Although maybe this tournament was all a dream, in which case it could be canon for Dragovoir

“So you’re going to go your separate ways after this?”

“Yes, even if I’ve learned a lot, I can learn more traveling the world.”

“You just want to find more people to eat the dreams of.”

“Now, Enna, you shouldn’t stand between someone and her dreams.”

Belle sits at her interview table alongside Dragovoir, Enna, and Anne. She turns to the camera.

“Oh, welcome back! Preparations for the final match of the tournament are under way, so in the meantime I thought I’d check in with all the competitors and get their take on the final match and tournament.”

She gestures to the others.

“Right now I’m sitting down with the Dream World Pokemon Dragovoir and the twin lamias Enna Koizumi and Anne Koizumi. During round one Enna and Dragovoir were matched, which ended in Enna catching Dragovoir in a Poké Ball and training her for her next matches. Dragovoir did win a couple but lost to one of the finalists, Jb. Enna won another match before losing to the other finalist, Lila, and was eliminated by Jb. Anne meanwhile was eliminated by the two semifinalists Mira and Ageul, who came in third and fourth place in the tournament.

“They’ve just been telling me that Dragovoir plans to go her separate ways after the tournament to grow more. Dragovoir, after what you’ve learned, do you think you would win a match against Enna now?”

“Oh, certainly,” Dragovoir says. “I’m not so overconfident now. I thought I could sweep through at the beginning, but I know not to underestimate my opponents now.”

“Yeah, sure you could win,” Enna says. She slides her arm over Dragovoir’s shoulders. “I’m a fantastic teacher, apparently!”

“You, teach?” Anne chuckles. “That’s a reach.”

“You know, you two very nearly had a match together,” Belle says. “If Mira had lost her second match—she very nearly did—and Enna had lost her second match, the bracket would have shifted to pit you two against each other. Dragovoir, how do you think an Anne and Enna match would have gone?”

“Ooh,” Dragovoir says, “don’t put me between them like that. Well, Enna made it further in the bracket than Anne, but Anne utilizes the very powers Enna taught me better. Anne, I think you’d take it.”

“Aw, you’re sweet,” Anne says. “I’m going to miss you.”

“So now that we’re at the final round,” Belle says, “who do you think is going to win the tournament?”

“I’ve faced both,” Enna says, “and despite Jb’s power I think Lila can charm the crowd with her bubbly personality. She doesn’t even need hypnosis to bring the crowd to her side.”

“Sure,” Dragovoir says, “but you didn’t experience Jb’s power firsthand. That stuff is potent. I do think Lila has a chance, but it will be tough to face Jb again.”

Lila won 33-10, or 76.74%-23.26%. Her closest match since Jb, but still over a 3-1 margin. The stage is set for the final match to be the first match and Darmenzi is ecstatic to start their play!

Bracket showing Mira grayed out, eliminated. Lila moves on to the final match against Jb.

Now, the walled-up VIP booth for Darmenzi is soundproof. Yet anyone standing next to it would still hear the cackles shaking the room within.

“You did it, my girl!” Darmenzi shouts. They smack the bracket with their staff and pull Lila to the finals match. “Lila versus Jb, our first and final match! The rest was mere fluff. Oh, Dr. Fara, you put your energies in all the wrong places. This is where the magic will happen.” They slam the bracket with their staff, buckling it inward. “And this is where I will twist this tournament inside-out.”

The semifinals have ended, and the final match will be the first one! Lila versus Jb! Will we have a repeat result? Just what is Darmenzi going to do? Next week we’ll have a special retrospective from the other competitors before a special presentation by our finalists, leading to the final exhibitions of the tournament, voting, and then the final match! Look out for the finals to begin Monday!

Mira's force may be strong, but a little song goes so, so long. It's hard to resist the rhythm in your head, as it swirls and curls you to where it's led.
That's why I really like the idea of a hypnosis video game that's anti-rhythm, you have to press buttons against the rhythm.

Lila holds Alya’s hands in hers and waves them up and down as she sings.

“Relax, dear Alya, let yourself sink,

“Slip into sleep where you don’t have to think,

“Gaze at my eyes and fall under my stare,

“Let your thoughts float away, lighter than air.”

As Lila sings she flows her curling coils to the rhythm, swaying her head to pull Alya’s gaze in time with the rhythm. Mira leans away from Lila and pulls Alya away from her, staring closer into her eyes.

“Focus on me, Alya. You want to obedient and submit to me.”

“Obedient,” Alya sighs, head wobbling between the two lamias. “Submit to you.”

“Let my eyes wash away everything else in your mind,” Mira says. “I am everything to you.”

Lila follows close to keep Alya’s gaze connected to hers. She slithers her tail further around Alya’s shoulders, brushing her tail along her chest and back as she vies for coil space with Mira around her belly. She presses close to Alya next to Mira as she sings anew.

“There’s more to see, just gaze at me,

“If you follow me I can set you free,

“My words are so sweet, Alya dear,

“Feels good to sink as I draw near.”

Lila wraps her tail around Alya’s neck and squeezes so she gulps and eyes widen to stare at her.

“Just say good night,

“As I hold you tight,

“Your sight is bright with my colors alight,

“As my pretty song tickles your ear.”

Alya sighs with a wide grin as her thoughts swirl away into Lila’s hypnotic violets. Mira’s spell dissolves away from Lila’s power, and Alya turns to stare at her, eyes full of Lila’s soothing, numbing colors.

With a small sigh Alya murmurs, “Lila.”

“Lila wins!” I announce. “Mira’s hypnotic power was no match for Lila’s sweet voice and slithering massage!”

Mira pulls away, and she smiles and nods.

“That voice of yours is powerful.” She pats Lila on the shoulder. “You could work up quite a fanbase with that.” Lila looks down and fidgets.

“I mean, I do have some fans, I guess—”

Mira directs her attention to a big board in the stadium, showing her vote wins in her matches. Lila covers her mouth.

“I’ve been winning by that much?”

“You do please a crowd,” Mira says. She shakes Lila’s hand. “Congratulations, and I’m sure you can beat Jb again!”

Lila shakes her head.

“I don’t know. I mean, she can please a crowd way more than me.”

“She only pleases herself,” Mira says. “One at a time, not a crowd.”

“Yeah, but—” Lila looks away. “I mean, I couldn’t do what I just did with her. She’d turn her power on me. She’s some sort of magic.”

“Listen,” Mira says. “Your singing? That’s magic, too.”

“She can sing, too,” Lila says. “She could just drown me out.”

“No talking like that,” Mira says. “You gotta be confident! You’ve won every match you’ve been in, no one else here can say that! Practice your craft, and you can do anything.”

“Yeah,” Lila says.

Yet doubt swirls in her mind.

After all, Mira controlled that situation. She held Alya, pulled her away—Lila played catch-up the whole time.

Maybe—

Maybe she’ll need a tail up, so to speak, to face Jb again.

Enna putting her arm around Anne with "Good enough to lose to the best!" is very endearing, I think. As much as I like Anne being a scheming manipulator I really like when these two are just hanging out.

“Welcome back to the tournament!” Belle says for the umpteenth time. “Today is the second semifinal match between Lila Pachis and Mira, to determine who will face Jb in the final match! I’m here with Ladies Anne and Enna Koizumi to discuss the match and the potential finals.”

“Always a pleasure, Ms. Peltonen,” Anne says. Enna smiles.

“Just don’t ask me who I think’s gonna win, because I have no idea!”

“We each lost to one of them,” Anne says. “Lila has had a more consistent showing across her matches, and she is more graceful. Mira is powerful, though, and anyone who can beat me must have a strong shot at winning the tournament.” She smiles. “After all, I also lost to another semifinalist.”

“We both did, actually,” Enna says. She puts an arm around Anne. “The wonder twins, good enough to lose to the best!”

“That’s true,” Belle says as she scans her notes, “Alya and Vil are the only others with that distinction.”

“And now Alya gets to be back on stage,” Anne says. “A rather undignified role, though.”

“Hey now, that’s the role our buddy Wren had before,” Enna says.

“And?”

Enna rolls her eyes.

“What did you think of yesterday’s exhibitions?” Belle asks.

“Lila was in top form,” Anne says.

“She sang a great song and rolled with Alya really well,” Enna says. Anne smirks.

“She didn’t just roll with Alya, she rolled out the purple carpet for her, and around her.”

“I think Mira came off too strong, though,” Enna says.

“No such thing,” says Anne.

“No, really, her aim to make Alya not cause trouble made her seem less fun. She should have just taken the chance to chase her.”

“She showed power,” Anne says. “She showed she can alter minds how she sees fit.”

“At least until the host removes that,” Belle says. “I’ve heard Alya is back to normal.”

“You mean incessantly horny?” Enna asks.

Lila and Mira slither onto the stage and shake hands.

“Good luck, Mira,” Lila says.

“You too, Lila,” says Mira. “And good luck to whoever wins in facing Jb in the finals.”

“Yes,” Lila says, “may the best lamia win so they can win against Jb.”

Alya rises between them and puts her arms on their shoulders.

“I don’t know about you ladies, but I think I won because I get lots of attention.” She looks between them. “What do you say, shall we get started?”

Lila glances away and between the others. Mira scowls at Alya then nods.

“Right, in that case”—she grabs Alya’s face in her hands and draws her to her eyes as her vivid red, blue, green rings pulse in her eyes—“look deep into my eyes, Alya, and let me muffle those loud thoughts of yours.”

“Ooh, starting out strong,” Alya says. She stares into Mira’s eyes and smiles as Mira’s rings mirror in her eyes.

Lila gasps as Mira jumps right into it, and she curls around Alya next to Mira to look into Alya’s eyes with her violet colors.

“No, no, Alya dear, focus on my soothing eyes and relax.”

Alya laughs as she looks at Lila too, her violets mixing into her eyes with Mira’s colors, the stage and stadium blurring as a jumble of color washes over her vision. She sighs as Lila slithers her tail over her shoulders.

“Ooh, this is nice,” Alya says, “being fought over by two pretty ladies.” She slumps, but Lila and Mira slither their tails under her arms to prop her up. Alya shivers as they both curl their tails around her to wrap her up.

“Give me your focus, Alya,” Mira says, pressing closer as she strokes her head with her hands, “let me hold your mind in my control and shape it with my power.”

“Give you my mind,” Alya murmurs.

Mira lowers herself back to Alya and instructs her to open her eyes. She douses Alya with more hypnotic colors.

“Now when you wake up, Alya, you won’t remember anything we did here, will you?”

“Yes, Mira,” Alya says.

“Good.” She pulls Alya close and kisses her lips, pulling her into a tighter embrace.

A brat like Alya who clearly wants to be taken isn’t all that exciting to Mira, but she has to admit, forcing Alya into submission like that did produce want in her. Alya is pretty, after all. She just doesn’t want Alya to bring it up every time she sees her—she’s the sort to take a passing interest and run it all the way to the goal and back.

In her VIP booth, Veda watches the exhibitions. She nods at key moments.

“Both powerful competitors. Perhaps more powerful than they know, although Mira certainly knows how to utilize it. Now it’s up to the voters. Will they take the shy, polite singer, or the forward, forceful hunter?” She has thought long and hard about the result, and yet— “I cannot say, but the winner will find a challenge in Jb. I hope both are up to the challenge.”

So there are Lila’s and Mira’s exhibitions! My two oldest lamia characters. Will you vote for the one created to be a shy but passionate girlfriend, or the one created to be a commanding and controlling hypnotic hunter? They’ll both be your girlfriend, and they’ll both hunt you, but only one will get your consent before.

You know, I haven't written a whole lot where Mira is faced with someone dangerous she has to keep in line. Despite being such a wild and free lamia, she'll really lock someone down when she thinks they need to be.

“Well, it was lovely singing to you.” Lila unwinds her tail from Alya as Mira slithers onto the stage, arms crossed.

“I want to get one thing straight, Alya,” Mira says. “I don’t trust you. I’ve got my eye on you.” Alya grins.

“Isn’t that the point?”

“She’s not wrong,” Lila says. She slithers off Alya and leaves the stage with a nod to Mira. “Good luck, Mira. She’s not so bad, I don’t think, maybe you can have some fun with it.”

“I’m not going to,” Mira says. She slithers to Alya.

“That’s no way to act,” Alya says. “Tell you what, how about I run off and you chase me?”

“I’m not leaving you out of my sight,” Mira says. She gestures to the field. “Besides, there’s no forest on the field to hide in.”

“Well,” Alya says, “what if I did this?”

She slithers off the stage at a spring away from Mira.

“Hey!” Mira grabs Alya’s tail and pulls her back.

“Oh, do you wanna wrestle again?” Alya says. She twists her tail around Mira to squeeze her, and she laughs as she slithers backwards. “Hey, maybe if I wrap you all up, I get to replace you!”

She yelps as Mira whips the end of her tail around her and binds her arms down. Mira grabs her arms around Alya’s wriggling body and holds it down with her tail while she pulls the squirming Alya back to the stage.

“That’s not going to happen,” Mira says, staring into Alya’s eyes with her hypnotic rings, blazing red, submerging blue, ensnaring green. Alya stares and it only takes a moment for her eyes to be awash with Mira’s hypnotic colors. She smiles and laughs.

“See, I knew I could get you to chase,” Alya says. As Mira binds her arms further and wraps up her body she pulls Alya to the floor and leans over her, planting her hands to Alya’s sides, despite Alya’s body still looped around her.

“Here’s what’s going to happen,” Mira says. “You’re going to be an obedient little naga and not cause any trouble.”

Mira’s words resonate in Alya’s mind, pushing all her thoughts towards obeying nicely and without trouble. She pushes against the commands, even as her vision fills with Mira’s hypnotic colors.

“Hah! You can’t get me that easy,” Alya says with a smirk. “I want to cause you trouble.” She squeaks as Mira squeezes her tail around her. Her senses fire off messages to her brain that being squeezed and wrapped up is good and she should follow orders to get more squeezes. She dreamily murmurs, “I’ll be obedient and not cause trouble.”

“You are only going to speak to affirm my words,” Mira says.

“I will only speak to affirm your words,” Alya says, smirk evening into a wide smile as she stares blankly wide-eyed at Mira. Her thoughts are swallowed up by Mira’s spell, and nothing but Mira’s words cross her mind, her words truth, her eyes more real than the world she once knew. The deeper she sinks under Mira’s spell the less she remembers before looking into her eyes, the less any of those memories feel real. Only Mira, her hypnotic eyes, in this moment, feel real to Alya.

“Now slip into a deep sleep, Alya.”

“Sleep into a deep slip, Alya.”

“Let’s make you trustworthy, Alya,” Mira says. “No more of those bratty, troublesome thoughts.”

“No more thoughts,” Alya says.

“Just submission and control.”

“Submission and control.” Alya gulps as Mira squeezes her tail around her neck, squeezing from her neck to the base of her tail.

“You’re not going to be trouble anymore, are you?” Mira says.

“No more trouble,” Alya squeaks.

“Now sleep,” Mira says.

“Sleep.”

“Sleep.” Mira repeats sleep, and Alya repeats after her, sleep ingraining into her mind and dropping her eyelids until she falls into a deep slumber, mind splashing in Mira’s hypnotic spell.

Mira rises and sighs as she pulls Alya’s tail off her. It won’t be permanent, now that she thinks about it. The host will make Alya her normal troublesome self after this.

She crosses her arms and looks at Alya. She swallows.

“Good,” she says, trailing off as Lila’s colors fill her vision and fill her mind, sinking her thoughts into relaxing pleasure. Lila slithers around Alya and pulls her in a circle with her tail.

“You like feeling good, don’t you, Alya?” Lila asks.

“I love feeling good,” Alya says. She moans as Lila slithers over her tail and pulls her own tight around Alya’s. With each circle she makes around Alya she pulls another heavy loop around her, weighing down Alya’s body as her mind is lightened by her spell. Lila leans closer as she circles her.

“Then tell me, what would make you feel wonderful right now?” She massages her tail against Alya’s shoulders, and the naga sighs. “What would make you feel absolutely sublime?”

Many ideas pass through Alya’s head. Coils—she knew Lila used her tail to beat Jb before, so her coils must feel fantastic. Kisses—Alya loves giving, taking, and having kisses taken from her. Tail up her skirt—of course, that’s always terrific. Yet somehow she says none of these.

“A song.”

Lila stops for a moment before she resumes her circling.

“A song? You want me to sing for you?”

“Yeah, that sounds lovely,” Alya says. Lila giggles.

“All right, plead for it, and I just might grace you with a song.”

“Please,” Alya says, drawing out the word until she’s out of breath, and she falls forward into Lila’s arms, eyes still glued to Lila’s as violet ripples flow over the world and erase the tournament from Alya’s mind. She speaks in a slurred tone, “Please sing for me, Lila.”

Lila slides her hands along Alya’s arms and holds her shoulders. She lifts Alya to a more stable position as she stares down into her eyes, and she spins with Alya on the stage, sliding more coils up her body as she does, the weight around her hips and abdomen too heavy to move without Lila’s assistance.

“Of course I’ll sing to you, Alya, dear,

“Just focus on me and I’ll tickle your ear,

“Everything’s blissful, nice and serene,

“As you gaze at my eyes, colors marine,

“Violet so deep and blue so fresh,

“As they swirl in your mind you feel so blessed,

“Come now and dance, have joy in your heart,

“Give in to my song and commit to your part.”

Alya stares at Lila with an open smile, eyelids rising and falling as soft sleep pushes against a desire to stare at Lila.

As Lila twirls Alya her coils rise higher, squeezing around her chest, and Lila pulls the end of her tail off Alya’s shoulders to coil her heavier midsection around her, squishing her shoulders between heavy loops. Lila slithers the end of her tail around Alya’s arms to hold them up to her shoulders. She holds Alya’s face in her hands and leans closer.

“How was that song, Alya?”

“Beautiful,” Alya murmurs, that one word a struggle to speak without her voice melting into sighs. Lila giggles and kisses her on the cheek, and Alya’s voice melts into sighs, mind melting into soft, cuddly bliss. She’d never experienced someone so enchanting yet so soft and gentle, and she sinks into Lila’s grasp, no movement or thought beyond how Lila directs her.

When Alya blinks awake she sees Lila next to her sitting on her chair. Lila looks up as Alya wiggles to stretch.

“That was fantastic, Lila,” Alya says. “We really must do it again sometime!” Lila smiles.

“Maybe in the final round?”

“Very well may be,” Alya says. Lila taps her fingers together and blushes.

“I’ll be honest, I was expecting you to ask for something much more intimate than a song.”

“Yeah, me too,” Alya says. She laughs. “For some reason a song just floated to the front of my head. I guess I just thought it’d be nice to be sang to.”
