That's my point about Mozilla's larger trend of enshittification: they've dropped their core userbase. They don't seem to care about the core experience anymore. They don't seem as dedicated to being that "privacy-friendly browser" it used to be.

I have little faith in Mozilla, but I do have curiosity as to how they'll respond to a potential AI bubble collapse. Will they largely scale back their efforts on this? It's not my only concern with Mozilla, but this may just be a small part of a larger trend of enshittification with Mozilla.

I don't really know where I'd go beyond Firefox. Chromium-based stuff isn't guaranteed to work long-term with things like uBlock Origin and Ladybird won't really be in a usable state for years.

Short-term, my best bet will probably have to be a fork of Firefox while I wait for Ladybird to lock in.

From the roadmap, I'm most excited to see a search feature in Bases.

Otherwise, it'd be cool to combine the outlinks and backlinks panels into a single thing instead of having two. Maybe it's possible with Bases, but I have yet to try.

Dunno if you meant it like this, but since the wording could imply otherwise, Obsidian isn't open source software.

Congrats though! Using more FOSS and even certain proprietary tools like Obsidian is really cool :3

GNOME in shambles... how could you do this to him? /j

Wow, this is really cool

Ah, that makes sense. I can't remember which but I think I recall some note-taking app that supported several formats like rich text and markdown.

Maybe it was Joplin or Standard Notes. Either way, hopefully you find something that works :3

It's so jarring when communities around highly extensible apps like Obsidian get so dogmatic about the "best" ways to use it when the entire point is to make it your own.

Also, genuine question: what is RTF? I can't say I've heard of it before.
December 14, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Yeah, Obsidian definitely isn't for everyone. I've heard good things about Bear and Apple Notes is honestly underrated for a note-taking app, even for me as an Obsidian user.

Syncing across devices will require a subscription, but it's only around $4–8/mo depending on your subscription.

Notes are locally stored in a markdown format, and the only AI integrations in Obsidian come from community plugins.

Obsidian can be as heavily customized or simple as you'd like.

Regardless, if you're in need of any collaborative editing functionality in Obsidian, I'd check the community plugins. Last I checked there were a few services dedicated to realtime collaboration stuff, but I can't remember any names off of the top of my head right now.
December 11, 2025 at 9:28 PM
My guess is that it'll probably involve some advanced peer-to-peer synchronization similar to what Anytype has. Though perhaps it'll be more of a paid service like Sync—who knows.

I don't know how they'll implement it, but I'm sure it'll be interesting nonetheless.

What Obsidian task management workflows will Cross support? Just basic markdown checkboxes? The Tasks plugin? The TaskNotes community plugin?
December 11, 2025 at 1:29 PM
Collaborative editing on Obsidian isn't great at the moment, but it does look like there's some plan to eventually improve it on their roadmap.
December 11, 2025 at 1:28 PM
It is possible, but it seems like there may be caveats to doing so. Here's a thread from the Obsidian Forums where people have discussed this more in-depth: forum.obsidian.md/t/nested-vau...
Nested vaults - usage and risks
The developers strongly advise against any use of nested vaults, warning that the program is not designed to cope with them and things may break. (Nested vaults are vaults located within another vaul...

Ah, alright. And yeah, looks like I missed that the post was made in 2023. I hope you're feeling happy with your apps of choice now though :3

Wishing you luck with Obsidian! Sticking to a tool/system without constantly tweaking things can be hard, but I'm sure you can do it :3

Smaller graphs are cool in their own way too :3

Nice graph :3
December 10, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Yeah Obsidian is definitely not for everyone. Depending on what your looking for, perhaps Joplin could work better for you? I haven't used much beyond Obsidian personally, but I've heard some good things about it.
December 10, 2025 at 2:45 AM
Very cool looking graph :3

I'm sure there's a way to script it so that you could just turn all file names in a given directory to kebab-case.
