I love when Porky is dropping dogs from buildings and asking if his cat is schizophrenic and threatening to blow people’s (er, ducks’) heads off, but I also love this era where he’s just a little guy. The stilted vacancy in these screenshots (drawn by Chuck Jones) is incomprehensibly charming to me

It’s such a shame how underdiscussed Clampett’s career as an actual animator (andeverythingelsehedidnotfrom1942-1946) is, because his drawings are SOOO cute and appealing. I didn’t realize just how much weight he and Chuck were pulling in that department until revisiting these shorts

Drew this Clampettian Pig a few weeks ago among my Pig binge—been taking screenshots to marvel over/study, and the ones drawn by Clampett and Jones are the most appealing. My style pokes out in this more than intended, but I think it’s bc I’ve accidentally absorbed so much of Clampett via osmosis

Little cut dance party ending from the end of It's Too Late With Plankton! Every good talk show ends with one!

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is now old enough to drink!! Crazy! Reposting this piece I did for a crew White Elephant back in 2022; happy anniversary to one of the greatest films ever made!!

Incredible ending to the incredible TWO GOPHERS FROM TEXAS. Beautiful Bill Melendez + Emery Hawkins animation here, w/ this essentially being the latter's magnum opus. I don't know of any other WB cartoon that has drawings with such specificity in derangement (which is different from "exaggerated")

Quaint Sponge I drew in a hurry trying to explain what very likely is a false memory

HELLZAPOPPIN’ is maybe the greatest movie of all time strictly because I said so. Where has this been all my life. This is the most/best “live action cartoon” I’ve ever seen. And considering I am in constant pursuit and adoration of just that, I do not say that lightly

Got re-hooked on another Laurel and Hardy kick awhile back, and WWWWOW how have I forgotten what utter joy these guys are! Stan's cry-singing is hilarious and I love Ollie fighting him for the plate. Absolutely one of those things where you can just tell they had so much fun filming this

Been rewatching a lot of early Porkys, and was reminded of a piece I did for the short MILK AND MONEY back in 2021 that I took down since I was unhappy with it… so, now I’m revisiting it with renowned Pork Prowess!

The nature of gif making sadly compressed this, so PLEEEASE do yer peepers a favor and look at it proper!

This started as an appreciation for Bob Clampett giving Daffy silly, oversized outfits early on, and ended as an ode to his ephemeral strength of combining cute-'n-sadistic. #looneytunes #daffyduck #bobclampett #art

I found a portion of my reference folder!! "Camera movements" "camera trouble" reminding me I was thinking of suggesting how to emulate some of the botched double exposure effects and camera jitter in some of these early cartoons haha oh man

And I got to design the title card! My memory's sadly a bit fuzzy on all the influences I used, but I'm pretty sure I used some Laurel and Hardy title cards as inspiration for design elements (and Our Gang/Little Rascals, of course!)

I had a ton of fun emulating a lot of quirks of the time--impact lines, doing the effects a bit more "crudely" than how I usually would, shadows where applicable, and we got to use a lot of irises and feather wipess, which I love! I love getting to combine my passions and knowledge like this

Here's a bit cut from Li'l Pastcals! This was a really special episode to work on, because I actually got to give a little presentation on how to emulate that Fleischer cartoon look. Here, I thought it'd be fun to channel the 2D/3D setbacks--it was cut for time and logistics, but still SO FUN to do!

Saturday the 14th cat of bad luck may have been an accidental omen... but at least he's cute!

That's all, folks! ← uttered with a certain gravity this time around! Don't you love a happy, feel good ending?

My next comic will be a 20 part odyssey apologizing profusely to Porky,
