Chiming in here to say that if you want a sneak peek of the 2nd edition, the Quick Start is free to download: dubdubpub.itch.io/monster-guts...

One of the (many) things it clarifies is the knocked down status you mentioned.

Monster Guts 2e, by @dubdubpub.itch.io, uses the punchy, quick-to-learn LUMEN system and builds your character options around the most important question you'll ask in a Monster Hunter game - what weapon will you wield?

I am seriously considering cancelling my Office 365 subscription over this. I've been an Office subscriber for years, but tbh Publisher is the one thing that Office has over suites like LibreOffice.

Office 365 used to be a no-brainer, something I'd recommend to folks interested in getting into ttrpg design. OneNote, Word, Excel, and Publisher are phenomenal tools for dreaming, drafting, testing, and finishing games.

The loss of Publisher changes all of that.

The fact that MSFT is using this as an opportunity to shill for their new genAI-powered "Microsoft Designer" is just the icing on the cake. It's a worse version of Canva, filled to the brim with genAI visual slop.

What's more, Publisher is one of two (2) layout programs I know of with right-to-left text support. I'm in the middle of a machzor and siddur redesign project for my synagogue. Without Publisher, my choices are spend a chunk of change on InDesign or make a book in Word.

Both choices suck ass.
