When I am czar of college sports it will be no more than 12 schools per conference and no more than 1500 miles between the two farthest-apart stadiums in the conference

Nah, PJM stakeholder meeting.
Idea: Swap out the WH Press Corps with the audience at an Econ seminar

The stuff that's going to come up between now and the 2026 midterms as people who aren't deranged nerds try to wrestle with the politics of energy prices, grid planning, and how data centers fit in will legitimately break my brain like some sort of lovecraftian horror.

Seriously everything, EVERYTHING about the RFK/Nuzzi/LIzza moment is an argument for a newsroom where you pitch stories in front of each other and editors who shield you from your own worst impulses.

There are people walking around every day with no idea who Curtis Yarvin is and I envy them so much.

No amount of posts or think pieces or white papers or op eds are going to actually bring down the costs of new nuclear power. Sorry to all those people who support new nuclear but don't actually work in the industry.

Exclusive: I have learned that any energy permitting deal struck this Congress will have to address Trump’s solar and wind energy bottleneck or else it will never become law.

This comes as the main solar industry group is staying silent on a GOP-led deal moving through the House.
Trump Is the Biggest Wild Card in Permitting Reform
Congress is motivated to pass a bipartisan deal, but Democrats are demanding limits on executive power.

The Hobbit but the one that Guillermo del Toro wanted to make.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I'm absolutely fine

huge news: a key house committee just advanced a major bipartisan permitting deal that would block future presidents from rescinding permits for political reasons

good for anyone who wants to build renewables, bad for anyone who wants to block pipelines

It was approved by the House Natural Resources Committee on Thursday by a vote of 25 to 18.

If you're not trying to do at least one dish inspired by local indigenous cuisine in your area you're doing Thanksgiving wrong.
Would like your most idiosyncratic Thanksgiving opinion (positive). Is there a side that is essential for you that's off most people's radar?

I don't think a lot of the Abundance folks actually think we should gut the ESA in the name of faster infrastructure buildout. But they're certainly not doing a good job of explaining that!

It's truly nuts that people feel judged by statements like "you should pay for the news media you consume; then at least they're actually working for you and not their advertisers"

Notes on the NBA injury crisis. Players are logging more miles and moving at a faster speed than ever before.

A few ideas:
Shorten the season (never happening)
Use deeper rotations
Shorter stints with multiple rests
More zone defense

Trying to figure out a way to explain to interested non massive dorks why solar gets 8% capacity credit in PJM and what the implications are. It's not an easy one but it's critical to understanding why things are the way they are.

Feels like we've really lost the ability to do episodic television where each episode is BOTH a self-contained story with a beginning, middle and end and also advances a larger plot for that season. It's not just a movie in bits.
