As a researcher in aging, I can tell you that it is not gender neutral. The “dad bod” jokes and balding jokes are jokes. The comments made towards and about women are serious. Women are seen as less desirable, less capable, and less wanted… all through life, but especially when they are older.

That stuff makes me so mad. It’s part of the gender-based double standard of aging. Men get “distinguished,” but women “let themselves go.” It is not ok and it needs to stop.

Yes! Yes yes! There are so many factors- we can maximize the effect if we work broadly.
