He can't process his emotions pathologically. It isn't a choice. Instead he behaves in ways that make others process them for him. The rage and shame and guilt you feel is his. He's legitimately insane and shouldn't have power over anybody.

He can't not ruin it. Destroying things is how he processes. Maladaptive behaviour is responding to problems with good intentions but making them worse. He thinks he's doing right. It will always be wrong.
