Can’t remember if I might have shared this one before, but anyway, here’s some promo Portishead #cassunday action from 31 years ago. ‘Sour Times’ and associated mixes / versions from the good folks at Go!Beat Records #MusicChallenge

Remembered my mum had found a ‘dead stock’ 5 card for our son’s 5th Birthday in 2019. ‘Swinging Number 5’ no less.
Had forgotten they were Elphick Hall (Barry Elphick & Geoff Hall) at that point too.

My first trip to the wonderful Shepherds Bush Empire for #TicketStubWed this week. I think this was a post final exams treat to catch the Heavies on what was probably their ‘Brother Sister’ tour in June ‘94.

Basking I tell you.

I was already a big SRV fan when I picked up this tape, released just a few months after his untimely death in 1990. Nile Rodgers on hand to capture the supremely funky performances from Jimmie & Stevie Ray, the production is spot on. Guest appearance from Rockin’ Sidney too, top notch. #cassunday

Yep, the old driver used to ring the bell, but no more Evri for me after yesterday.

Today is dark, wet & skies are grey, but yesterday was bright and blue. So here’s yesterday. Which could be like tomorrow.

I had also forgotten I did this in March 2001. #clang

Booted up the 26 year old iMac to look for some old gig dates, forgot how fast the start-up sequence was with OS9!

Another mild day, almost T-shirt weather. This came in the post a couple of weeks ago, I’d almost forgotten I’d pre-ordered back in the summer. Big up the Heavenly crew ✊🏻

This week for #TicketStubWed - a late in the day appearance from Maceo Parker, at what was basically a JBs gig. The Astoria was a perfect venue for them & the set was very much like Maceo’s ‘Life On Planet Groove’ live LP from ‘92, so I remember being pretty happy that I knew the arrangements.

Because it’s like 16 degrees or something (in mid November!) I thought I’d have a bit of late afternoon time in the garden. Raked up some leaves, enjoyed the colours, had a chat with the robins, that kind of stuff.

Also on the turntable yesterday, this slightly more laidback affair - 'Drifting' by Walter Norris with George Mraz on double bass. Lovely version of 'A Child Is Born' alongside plenty of original compositions, recommended for piano and bass duo fans.

Look what the postie delivered just after I posted yesterday - this beaty beauty in all its Triple LP glory! Closing out the final side with ‘Sunset Breakdown’ - my debut for the label in 2008, which only seems like maybe 18 months ago, tops. jalapenorecords.bandcamp.com/album/twenty... #musicsky

On deck from the ‘must get round to listening to these’ pile - McCoy Tyner from 1972, going in hard with Sonny Fortune on saxes, Calvin Hill on bass & Alphonze Mouzon on drums. Can’t remember where I picked it up, cheap I think, plenty of noise & crackle, into the ‘should probably get cleaned’ pile.

Donned some odd socks yesterday in support of #antibullyingweek but forgot to post a pic, but I’m wearing them again today as handily I discovered another identically odd pair in the drawer this morning. 🥁 #oddsocksday

Enjoying some super autumnal afternoon listening with this stunning album, courtesy of Bristol legend Ben Dubuisson.
Picked it up last Bandcamp Friday - the first lathe cut run sold out, but there's a second red vinyl edition, plus CD & digital

Today’s answer to ‘why is crate so heavy?’ is this 7m long EDAC / ELCO 56 pin to 8in / 8out TRS jack snake for connecting your ADAT machine to a mixer. From a long way away. Anyone needing to do that this weekend? Operators are standing by to take your order.

Very chunk, much industrial.

Can do! I have these two (apparently from a linksys router after a quick search for the part number!) 9v 1000mA that you’re welcome to - DM or email me an address to send em to 👍🏻

TESTED & WORKING.
Sounds very decent, bit noisy via the Monitor out on the front, but anticipate some fun using as a room mic on drums (and everything else too probably) with some broadcast style limiting across it for that ‘80s talk show vibe.

Cool, this is the spare PS with 5-pin DIN - 5v 1.5A / 12v 0.5A
You’re very welcome to it if the specs line up!

Vintage radio mic action, I thought all these older frequencies got canned, but apparently not.
174.5Mhz here we come!
