AI Slop is everywhere, but how do you spot it if studies say that humans lack the heuristics to differentiate machine generated language from human generated language in the era of increasingly convincing and persuasive LLMs? This article digs into exactly that! drainpipe.io/the-digital-...

What happened to the AI community on here? Really sad this platform at one point had a really great and growing AI community, now its just politics and politics and politics. We want tech, we want positivity, we want AI, we want cool computer science, we want white papers! Come on people!

One of the big take aways from the AI Action Summit in Paris and the culmination of the many events leading up to it, Science won this week. We refused to allow faith based quasi-science to influence policy, and we stayed focused on action, amidst the voices of some who want to give CCP the lead!

This new AI executive order is an alarming look at what could possibly go wrong when you mix ignorance, arrogance, and incompetence. How much AI development will now move off shore? I’m already domiciling in Malta for European business… 🤷‍♂️

PDF's for Grok seem very contradictory of a feature for a platform which has a Terms of Service which makes it very clear they will literally own any data you upload to their platform and use it how they wish. Do not upload documents containing proprietary or confidential information to X.

A timely paper exploring ways academics can pretrain larger models than they think, e.g. by trading time against GPU count.

Since the title is misleading, let me also say: US academics do not need $100k for this. They used 2,000 GPU hours in this paper; NSF will give you that. #MLSky
$100K or 100 Days: Trade-offs when Pre-Training with Academic Resources
Pre-training is notoriously compute-intensive and academic researchers are notoriously under-resourced. It is, therefore, commonly assumed that academics can't pre-train models. In this paper, we seek...

The article is from this Thursday, but it reports on a study published last April, & we've known that "venting," or "catharsis," does not reduce anger since at least 1983, when my mom's BFF & frequent co-author published the landmark book...

Mm this is pretty interesting, when we get into encoding and decoding weights, things are going to get interesting because, we may be able to fundamentally change how we go about fine tuning models. I'm very excited to watch this work progress.
Tackle ARC Prize using Latent Program Network (LPN) without using LLM? for those out-of-distribution reasoning tasks!

It’s getting so distasteful hearing these AI-shill-CEO’s saying how all of AI is hitting a wall because their, key word THEIR solutions are garbage and were never going to scale to begin with, they just lack the leadership to see it. 🤣🤦‍♂️
