Thanks Brónagh.

For people who did get a Military Service Pension, there'd often be a letter from a relative in the file on the lines of "They've died, you can stop paying this," but as he was turned down, he just faded anonymously into history.

For years, I'd ask my da what he'd like for Xmas. Every year, without fail, he'd reply "Peace and quiet."

Football = football
Rugby = football for cheats
American football = rugby with crash helmets
Gaelic football = a Frankenstein hybrid of football & rugby
Australian rules football = Gaelic football played with a rugby ball by male bodies wearing vests

That'd be football. Rugby was born when some cheating clown at an English private school, playing football, decided to pick the ball up and carry it, instead of kicking it around the pitch. The ruling class: ruining everything, including sport.

There's this one in Genoa. Hadn't a clue about it until my wife, who lived there for a year, showed it to me when we went there on a day-trip.

That's amazing and ridiculous all at once

The only reason to name an airport is if there’s more than one serving the same city. JFK, Gatwick, CDG etc.

Anything else is notions

Got mine tested 4 years ago, was told distance vision can improve as you get older, so I no longer need a contact lense for my right eye; still need reading glasses though. Specky 5-eyes!
Two years ago, was told the distance vision in both eyes was now OK for me to drive without a lense in either.

That - or something similar - was launched in Ireland and UK as "Oreo Birthday Cake," it's still around

You can see now where Homer got the idea for the Sirens that sing to Odysseus
