Around 20% of my work year is on an event called the Spine Race. It's brought me into the most wonderful community of endurance runners. I lead their checkpoint department & place c.150 people from Derbyshire to Scotland each January, to look after 500+ athletes

Anyone know the race?

BBC bulletin reading: Thousands more pages of Epstein documents released by Oversight Committee The House Oversight Committee has just released 20,000 pages of documents received from Epstein's estate. The committee is controlled by Republicans - and the release comes shortly after Democrats on the committee released three emails it said were received by Epstein's estate this morning. We're starting to read through the documents now, and will bring you updates.

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

In the shaded labyrinth of the souks with ever-present scooters

Some stall holders have a touch & it’s yours policy. Some are very assertive in their sales pitches! But the vast majority sit & smile or nod as you pass

All offer a ‘very good price’ which is usually 3+ times what we should pay

Backyard Ultras are devilishly clever. Running 4.1667 miles in an hour every hour looks easy. With a national record and PB of 59 yards going in, Sarah Perry 🇬🇧 has today set a new female world record of 95 yards before stopping. 396 miles. 4 days. No chance to really sleep, or even eat a meal. 🤯

Museum & gallery visit this morning

The sun is now incredibly strong so we are relaxing indoors until it calms enough to head out again!
A room in the art gallery. Typically moorish with arches and ornate tiling, it felt very serene One of the portraits in the gallery shows a man in typical Berber head wear, which I gather is a keffiyeh. I loved this portrait; it felt very expressive to me, particularly in the man’s eyes A wide view of the ‘patio’ in the museum. More beautiful examples of an intricate tiled interior compared with its relatively unadorned exterior. This is apparently reflective of the highly important nature of the inner spiritual world More ornate Moorish beautiful tiling. This time in a fountain inside the patio of the museum

Morning wanderings

A small market street near to our riad. It’s bustling and loud with scooters zooming by frequently. The front door to our riad with green and white tiles at the bottom of the wall and on the floor. The door is large and metal with 2 door knockers on it, one of which has the protective Hamsa, or hand of Fatima Teal barrels of vibrant spices and aromatics outside a shop with beautiful ceramics displayed on the terracotta wall above A side street in the Kasbah where we are staying. There are large plant pots and the walls are varying terracotta shades

A green tiled dining table on a terrace laden with food. We had freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, mint tea, eggs, olives, salad, pomegranates, grapes, toast, honey, jam and cream cheese. It was fabulous!
