These aren't concessions. This is a two-tier system that penalises anyone unlucky enough to become long-term sick or disabled after the arbitrary date of the bill. Utterly pathetic attempt at capitulation, and the rebels had better hold their ground.
BREAKING: Full details of those welfare bill concessions:

1) Only cut benefits for new claimants
2) Spend billions more on employment support
3) Consultation on PIP cuts, with changes to be made at committee stage

The assisted dying lobby isn’t being honest with you – disabled people are at risk from this bill | Lucy Webster
Proponents say the measures being debated in parliament will apply only to people who are on their deathbeds. That isn’t true, says journalist and author Lucy Webster

Presumably Sue Gray took the shit list - with local govt and university collapse both on it - with her when she left
I feel like the Labour leadership is once again overestimating the vote-winning potential of a PR blitz. When some combination of universities and either the social care system or the councils that fund it start collapsing on your watch, no one's gonna care that you got a few good headlines first.

Delighted that the Steel Industry (Special Measures) Bill includes a provision that Jonathan Reynolds doesn’t have to break into Scunthorpe steelworks all by himself.

MPs being (rightly) recalled over the 2,700 jobs at risk in British steel, while 5,000 university jobs are actively being cut this year with a further 5,000 jobs under threat and very little intervention is... interesting. Academia is also an industry in collapse.

Regular reminder that there is no reason Labour has to “eye billions of pounds in welfare and other cuts”. It’s more than possible to raise cash with targeted wealth taxes. Austerity is a choice and it’s a choice no matter what colour party is in power.

This thread shows how close US is now getting to a constitutional crisis - as opposed to constitutional drama.

Once the executive freely disregards court orders without sanction then US pretty much has a constitutional crisis.

Things are coming to a head.
HAPPENING NOW: A federal judge who ordered the unfreezing of USAID contract spending is voicing frustration as a Trump administration lawyer repeatedly refuses to say whether they have actually taken any steps to implement his 12-day-old order.

OH and whilst I’m asking why isn’t Labour enacting its own statutory lever in the charter for budget responsibility and getting the OBR to model this increase?

Where’s the statement from the treasury please? Where’s the impact assessment? Why not bring the spending review back to March since this defence spend will affect every other unprotected departmental spend? I feel like I’m in a policy twilight zone - where’s the evidence this ODA cut adds up?
