I know they are man-repellents (let’s face it, I have no chance at this point anyway), but I’m so excited to have finally gotten a new pair of wide-leg farmer jeans (overalls). I waited months for them to go on sale, and voila!

My pick for overall best song ever?

Fight me.

My own family’s history - James succumbed to smallpox, Richard survived to serve out his 3-years.

She’s slowly oozing over my lap and is weighing me down with what feels like 50lbs! Her feet hanging off are hilarious.

This monster of a domesticated animal won’t let me sit down without speaking herself all over my lap.

Wait, what????

The WV governor took it upon himself to announce the deaths of two National Guard members, and now, about 30 minutes later, he posts that they do not know?

For the love of all that is emergency management, take a public comms 101 training! Never announce until you have confirmed.

From Twitter.

I’m so angry.

Watching Ep.4 of The American Revolution.

These 2 joined in the period covered by the episode - father & son (15) joined in Apr.1777. Both caught smallpox. James (Father) died months into service. Richard survived & served 3 years.

If not for Richard’s survival, I’d not have come into being.

16 is trying to find a balance between accelerating too quickly and being too slow to get going when he makes turns into traffic.

I told him it’s somewhere between his grandmother’s driving and having the “Warte! Anhalte! Papa das ist rot” German kid yell at you.

Created a whole activity around latest @justsecurity.org podcast - podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t... about Antifa designations.

Some of the students are not happy by what they realized after using the entire class to go through the implications of the three documents. Awesome dialogue.

Can’t decide if I actually look like an old-fashioned 50yr old woman, or if I am ironically wearing a sequined sweater, plaid trousers, and pointy shoes, but doing it in a cool way.

The sun on the leaves and lake out my window were a nice sight today!

F1 qualifying and race are perfect times to sit and bundle mailers for a community police survey! 7300+ (of 12K) bundled and 15 postal routes done. Huzzah!

Facilitating an all-day writing “bootcamp” online. #ResearchCoffee 1 almost done (long cold, but still drinking!) & Electronic is blasting as my writing vibe. Others on Zoom have to watch the head-bopping magic happen! 🤣🤣

Good luck to all trying to be productive, too!

Guess what my lecture was on in Homeland Security today…😏
November 20, 2025 at 1:38 AM
I love teaching (not grading).

Today, we covered the intent of the 2A to limit the federal government’s capacity to restrict states’ control over their national guards/militias.

I’ve been chided for years about why I use so much history in my Homeland Security class.

Gee…why might that be?🤔

Today we start our unit on terrorism and state control of violence - of course, I start back with our late 18thc history.

Glad I picked up this shirt at the US Constitution Center this weekend! 😏

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

My lord, there’s having penis envy, and then there’s being Pete Hegseth. 😳😳😳

Even the phallic-obsessed Romans are like, my man, stop.

Went to Irish Pub in AC (next door to the Anchor Club) after the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy show.

One of these days, I’d like to be a ~50yr-old nerd enjoying days out in historic Philly, silly poetry goth shows, & Irish Pub nights with a date! Definitely did not get the luck of the ☘️ with that. 🙄

Had so much fun in Atlantic City tonight with the troupe delivering an Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy experience. 4 performances (~15 min each) and 1 cocktail to accompany. What fun!

This is what I love - in 2025, coming together for live performances of 19th c authors!

Enjoy this video of a fat squirrel eating his walnut. I tried shaming him, but, in pure Philly fashion, he just sat there and didn’t give a f**k.

The other night in my class, we spoke about the use of flags in Northern Ireland. We talked about the very nuanced way Americans can use flags, even in contradictory ways. I had to stop and take a pic of this street right in historic Philly. There’s a lot here.

Me, in my happy nerd place walking through historic areas of the city, learning about who walked before.
November 15, 2025 at 5:00 PM
St. Augustine’s Catholic Church was burned to the ground during 1844 Nativist/Bible riots. The riots led to Philly’s consolidation & new policing structures in the city.

Of course, I had to ask whether there was any idea about what proportion of the Presbyterian/Protestants were Ulster-Scot…

The historic St. George’s Church in Philadelphia is 14ft from the Ben Franklin Bridge.

14 feet from destruction.
