Happy to share our most recent work www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/.... Here we describe how efficient DNA replication in E. coli is dependent on an interaction between SSB-ssDNA and the DNA polymerase (Pol III). Thanks to all the co-authors for their hard work!

Up at sunrise and photographing McLeans Grassland Reserve for Wikipedia. One of the last surviving fragments of the original Canterbury Plains dryland ecosystem, it became a reserve in 2021 and is being restored with native plants, but the mayor thinks it should be covered in solar panels instead.

Yesterday I helped a friend capture her swarm of bees after her hive split. The swarm had followed a new queen and settled on a tree and we collected the bees and put them in a new hive. Incredible to watch these cool creatures! #bees #swarm

Just heard a great talk from Pieter Pelser and Julie Barcelona about Rafflesia, the world's biggest flower. They've been researching them in the Philippines for 21 years, and species numbers have gone from 2 to about 14. They smell, "like a dead rat", to attract pollinating flies.
