Mostly harmless, general smartass, doing my best to avoid failure mode of clever.
I tend to bring this slight variation of classic midwestern sweet potato dish. One Thanksgiving the meringue simply didn't pull together but it was still fine because that just turned the meringue topping to sweet glaze instead.

Between this and Ben Shapiro buying a single plank at Home Depot (and putting a plastic bag on the end), I would love to see a show where a bunch of these masculinity podcast bros compete to assemble an ikea bookshelf fastest

Be careful about this, Bluesky will tempban people for making death threats this way!

That story's value being in letting a whole lot of readers realize that rather than being qualified they might indeed be over-qualified to be a personal finance columnist! Lot of marketing terms I couldn't explain without being allowed some prep time, but I do know not to hand over $50K in a shoebox

Azar Nafisi's "Reading Lolita in Tehran" memoir is great too, and very resonant with horrific people in power insisting on terrible readings.

This design is breathtakingly powerful stuff! That's not a meltdown--it's the future reaching out at the speed of light! Would you like my help in creating a powerpoint presentation of these blueprints to investors?

In extension of this: you can't get them on hypocrisy about *anything*. Not a bit of it. The smarks among them will smugly say things like sensitivity to hypocrisy is an adolescent virtue (terrible joke goes here) and then quickly move any goalposts.

Getting very tired of the tech bros making their inability to grapple with mortality everyone else's problem.

Source of the (paraphrased) quote is maddeningly eluding tip of brain, but it quickly becomes clear that only some journalists got into it to speak truth to power; far too many got into it only to get to hang out with power.

That's a fantastic start, showing genuine remorse--powerful stuff! Would you like me to make that apology a bit more intense--zazzing up the embarrassment, perhaps with a funny anecdote--or perhaps more formal?

A lot of relationship-ending moments are really the last straw. Theirs might have already been on shaky ground because she was being really irresponsible about not studying for the big math test and giving him sass about reasonable bedtimes.

the crashout eventually comes for us all. best thing you can do is just close the app when you feel it hitting you and disappear for a while. screenshots live forever.

And just like openly using a whole raft of slurs, have been seething about needing to be quieter about it ever since!

I'm also in the choir here that that ick's been bubbling around the fever swamps for quite a while. Like a lot of the soul rot, building out of oh-it's-just-edgy-?humor? years ago, and increasingly yet more of the bungled-lanced-boil-leading-to-sepsis effect.

They really did seem to take "the failing New York Times" as aspirational if not the direct order.

"I have the one true knowledge of how human beings work" is I'd say a misreading. Which could well be a failure of my instrument here, so no harm no foul!
