The blancmange! I was hoping that 4 years into the latest #OxfordshireCountyCouncil administration we would no longer be seeing active travel schemes turning into a sticky puddle. But there are still too many poor bits of cycling infrastructure being implemented 😰

Don’t forget, for many years #Uber insisted loudly that it would reduce traffic in cities. Instead, Uber drivers cruise without passengers 40% of the time. Uber and Lyft no longer claim they reduce traffic. They now admit they increase congestion.

True freedom. Being able to ride a bike safely to get to the shops, your friend, the hospital....can we do this in #Oxford?

Shared e-bikes and e-scooters need to be available across the city to help people have more options to get around.
A coalition of active travel advocates are calling for a significant expansion of shared e-bike and e-scooter schemes in Oxford, currently provided by Voi and Lime, saying shared bikes are a vital part of the solution to Oxford's transport problems and have transformed cycling in London.

We often forget how far we have come: Today almost 3/4 of EU electricity generation is from non-fossil energy sources.
It is not long ago that fossil fuels dominated the EU's electricity mix.
This year their share is approaching 1/4 of EU electricity generation.

It's amazing how much of a difference the congestion charge in Oxford has made. The roads are much quieter, it's so easy driving around the city centre now and being able to keep to time. My job has become less stressful.

A Conservative motion to cancel Oxford’s new Congestion Charge has been rejected by a meeting of Oxfordshire County Council. The Conservative and Labour groups voted to withdraw the charge but were outvoted by the LibDem administration and the Greens. (Our live posts are in the thread below!)
The vote on Oxford’s Congestion Charge is taken and goes broadly along party lines.
For removing the charge: 22 (Con, Lab, Ind)
Against removing the charge: 36 (LibDem, Green, Henley)

Wonderful! Another little step towards reducing motor traffic in Oxford.
A freight interchange between delivery trucks and cargo bikes is planned for Oxford Parkway car park. Shipments will be delivered to the “micro consolidation hub” every morning, then taken into Oxford and Kidlington by electric cargo bike.
