I’ve mentioned this before but I think it’s worth repeating regularly: your awesome friends probably don’t know how awesome they are. In fact, they probably doubt it on a regular basis. Let them know how great you think they are 🥰
I love boosting and lifting each other up, and NOT just around the Holliday/Krampus season💕

But it is a good time to remember the ppl who left an impression and inspired you!

Music hath not only charms to soothe savage breasts, as Mr William Congreve famously lets us know, but is also a time-honoured way to communicate with household spirits out and about in the darkest time of the year.

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

About five years ago most of my print sales had human subjects, and that changed about two years ago. People started to almost exclusively want animals and food related prints

Multiple customers have told me “why would I want a person I don’t know on my walls?”, which I have so many thoughts about

And they’ve said it nearly identically every time I bring it up with a customer as sort of a fun anecdote. Obviously these folks don’t all know each other too

Following trends of subjects is a really interesting, confusing, and often a disheartening thing in ways

I truly think it is a shift in so many things. A human subject isn’t usually a random person. It is often a symbol, a representation of something more…a part of a fluid larger concept

Without getting into it all (because I won’t stop) I see it as a mirror of a our cultural and political shift

And it feels very recent! I’ve drawn humans as subjects and sales of them soared until maybe 2023

I’ve never viewed human centric art in the way I’m hearing because that means viewing ALL art history through that lens and that feels bleak. I have a ton of thoughts, but they can’t all fit here hah

Thank you, ‪@hickenlooper.senate.gov for being the first Senator to publicly oppose the nomination of Sell-off Steve Pearce to be Director of the Bureau of Land Management! Our public lands are not for sale.

📢 Call your Senators to urge them to vote NO on "Sell Off Steve" Pearce: 1-855-980-5638
Americans need a real steward for our public lands. Steve Pearce, Trump’s pick to lead the BLM, isn’t one.

He opposed environmental protections and pushed to sell public lands when he was in Congress.

Our public lands are NEVER for sale. I'm a NO on his nomination.
