Most folks have seen an Indian Peafowl from the front showing all of the feathers presented

Found this peacock #hangingaround so I used the opportunity to photograph it a an unusual angle for the #BirdOfTheDay

Hello there! Don’t let Monday wreck you!

It helps me to look back at past bird photos from trips to transport me back!

Join me in reminiscing about this Brown Violetear from my first trip to Colombia this past March to lessen the Monday suck 👍

Fairview Park lured me into birding with these sightings of beautiful raptors year after year

We figured out that they nest throughout the greater park system around Fairview Park

Each year we get a chance to see the #Mr&Mrs of all these raptors create the next generation #BirdOfTheDay

One of the hardest things is to continue to be creative with bird photography when you’ve ran through the gamut of close portraits

I’m committing to find time and use my Leica more for wide angle bird photos which include more landscape

Let’s start with some gulls and the ocean

My current Luna Sandals are still my go to daily wear

I love that they upcycle their sandals

Used their annual sale to grab me an extra pair of treads in case I get a flat 🥰

One of the United States most recognizable #silouette

I saw my first Sandhill Crane as they winter at the Salton Sea in Southern California

I couldn’t resist a second #BirdOfTheDay because this might be one of the first photos I print and frame

One of the most common tanagers in Colombia, I found this blue-grey tanager #BirdOnAWire within the city limits of Solento, Colombia

This was one of 78 birds on a 2 hour walk around town in March earlier this year; 70 lifers on this walk 😅

Good one for #BirdOfTheDay

Our coast is the home of very many western gulls. After the storms, our beaches get littered with critters and gulls come by and attempt to clean it all up

My best #thrush photo for #BirdOfTheDay! Hermit thrushes winter in our county and we get the joy of hearing them 🎵 chup chup 🎵 all winter 🥰

#BirdOfTheDay is of #mottled birds or alternatively #blurred moving birds.

I have a Ruff in flight! Kinda blurry! 😅

We annually get at least one returning Ruff every year in our county. Very fortunate to be able to see this long traveler

Fairview Park will always have a place in my heart as the place I learned to bird!

It’s also the home of the largest collection of vernal pools

These ephemeral pools revive endangered fairy shrimp that emerge to life as the rain pools

I love the subtle green glow of new plants hours after rain 📷🌿

Gulls define the love-hate relationship I have with birding

Love that I don’t have to chase after a gull and can walk right up to one

But hate that I can survey thousands of gulls before you see something uncommon in the sea of varying #ShadesOfGray

Rain in Southern California is already a rare thing. But we’ve had nonstop rain for six hours now and I don’t even remember the last time that has even happened!
