Lock the gates Goofy, take my hand, and lead me through the world of self...

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I was mildly raised eyebrowed when the ad breaks in last night's Channel 5 comedy clip show were sponsored by Help for Heroes. Is that what they thought their bumper sticker money was going towards?

Ended up top of our Fantasy Football league for Christmas despite running out of transfers in time to drop Dominic Calvert-Lewin in last night. So I'll take that.

Fallout. Not a huge spoiler, but I actually applauded when Kyle McLachlan's character enjoyed what was clearly a damn fine cup of coffee.

Out with a couple of ex-colleagues last night talking about ghosting in the job market, this morning in The Times wages are down and unemployment is up, meanwhile in The Guardian an article about six months of fruitless job searching. Still, the new Fallout is here this week, so there's that.

Just heard some godawful auto tuned confectionery that rhyme 'kissed' with 'naughty list' and now I want to rip my own ears off and bury them in a hole. But enough about me, how's your morning?

Back from ageing parent's. My god - have you *seen* the people the Daily Mail gives money to for typing whatever things have crossed their collective minds?

I think the worst thing about redundancy is hitting every green light on the school run and then having no-one to tell about it.

This new series of What's My Line? looks a bit near the knuckle.

"No - *you* grow up!"

I must go down to the sea again
The lonely sea and the sky
I left my vest and socks there
I wonder if they're dry?
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

I'm sure there's a phrase for when you go into a second hand vinyl shop and see your own record on sale for less than it cost when it was released. Mind you, I'm in good company. In other news, I bought a copy of Southside Johnny's "Heart of Stone" today, and it's terrific.

Absolute props to the woman walking along Spring Road at half eight this morning with two under fives wearing wings and an armful of massive silver stars.

I have been out. No mention herein of us apologising for the lack of iPads at the front of the stage as "We have taken time to learn the songs". I also do not use the phrase 'sticksman'. Ever.

Firstly, from the socials;  It can be nerve-wracking showing up to a pub on a Friday night wondering if anyone’s going to come, if they’ll...

24 years ago today George Harrison took another step towards moksha. Earlier this year I compiled a People’s Playlist of his music guided by scores of Bluesky responders. Each song here is somebody’s very favourite George-related track. Three hours, ’63-‘01. Enjoy.

We're all over the socials, us - MySpace, Friends Reunited, Ceefax - you name it. Or, of course, here's a reminder (in case you needed one, you cheeky scamps) that you can come and look at us in our true, human forms at The Duke, Ipswich on Friday the 28th. You should come.

Say what you like about pre- pocket technology days, but at least people could buy cornflakes in Sainsbury's without needing to have a conference video call about it.

Discussing getting Neil Young tickets with an Elvis Costello fan, who remarks "His voice is shot, he can't sing..." I am minded instantly of @thebryery.bsky.social 's raised eyebrow.
