This is an unusual Trump scandal as there's actually a cover-up. Normally Trump just announces all his crimes on TV. That shows how bad the hidden material must be.
If it gets out and causes a significant percentage of Trump's base to turn on him then I think GOP politicians will take action.

It’s not just that Trump is personally a rapist, though there’s lots of credible evidence to suggest that he is. It’s that he is promoting a fundamentally pro-rape ideology, and that the permissiveness for rape and entitlement to rape that are core to his worldview are central to his appeal for men.
