I guess the difference is that basic cable had ads, premium did not.

Just depends on the channel. ESPN for example always had ads. HBO didn't.

Obviously they care deeply about preventing Americans from experiencing substance use disorders and overdoses.

Yes that’s what I meant.

“Does he have friends?”

“Yes, one who is obsessed with Beethoven for some reason and another one who drags around a blanket.”

I would be fine with that if it is done equally everywhere. I voted for the CA commission (it was a voter initiative) and I don't really have issues with their lines. But the R party has acted in such bad faith on this for decades that at this point it is hard to see a reason to unilaterally disarm.

Agree, and also, the CA 'nonpartisan' redistricting commission is set up to have 5 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and 4 "others" (other party/decline to state). There are twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans in CA, which means the commission is unrepresentative and tilted toward Repubs.

I think I would be in that group. I don’t know about never, but the universe is a very big place. The odds that aliens a) exist somewhere and b) haven’t made it here yet, seems probably >50% on both counts.

Funny you should mention it, one of those ladies in the Guardian article this week about free birthing is a gravity … disbeliever.

Makary telling the reporter that he confidentially encouraged RFK to suggest people take the measles vaccine during the outbreak is telling. Great job there Makary, doing CYA by distancing himself in the Atlantic when he should have publicly stated it at the time and/or quit if need be.

Referring to HHS/CDC experts as prostitutes and a snake pit really shows where he stands. He is sure he’s right, there is literally no study that could convince him of any health benefits of vaccines, and he is certain anyone with a different view of the data is on the take and acting in bad faith.
