Bookworm, ballet fan, likes a good detective story. Now with the NHS. All views my own. Goodreads and NetGalley user.
When you decide to treat yourself to a burger and cocktails after work, and then they say they’re doing cocktail training and would I like a free passion fruit martini? Does a bear shit in the woods? 😂

Finally managed to collect my signed copy of The Black Wolf, from my local indie bookshop, to go with the preceding book, The Grey Wolf. Such good stories!

📖 134) Bournville - Jonathan Coe. Set in the Birmingham suburb, this shows a family at various points in history.
October 28, 2025 at 10:40 AM
📖 133) Broken Ghosts - J. D. Oswald. A standalone departure from his usual detective crime series, and I found this slightly different to what I was expecting from the blurb.

📖 132) Murder in the Soho Graveyard - Emily Organ. Enjoyable historical crime book, first but not the last I would read by this author!
October 28, 2025 at 10:33 AM
📖 131) A Long Winter - Colm Tóibín. Thankfully short, as dear Lord this was boring. Nothing happened. Ticked a square of on the library bingo card though.

📖 130) The Mystery of Four - Sam Blake. Audio via the library.
October 28, 2025 at 9:22 AM
📖 129) A Bad, Bad Place - Frances Crawford. Set in Glasgow, a young girl finds a woman’s body, and we witness the fallout.
October 28, 2025 at 9:20 AM
📖 128) 12 Months to Live - James Patterson & Mike Lupica. Audio via the library. Can’t say I was overwowed 🤷🏻‍♀️
October 28, 2025 at 8:42 AM
📖 127) The Ending Writes Itself - Evelyn Clarke. Writers invited to an island to finish a famous dead author’s book, but they all start dying one by one… loads of hype about this in the summer, and speculation about who the two authors were behind Evelyn Clarke. It was… OK as a book.

📖 126) Mrs Beeton’s Murder Agency - Josie Lloyd. Cosy mystery featuring a descendent of the titular lady, with a few recipes included. Decent, if a little rushed/unlikely at the end.
October 28, 2025 at 7:16 AM
📖 125) The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown. I’d forgotten quite how much believe you have to suspend with these books…!
October 28, 2025 at 7:14 AM
📖 124) First Wife’s Shadow - Adele Parks. Audio via the library, and I did spot the twists when a woman quickly marries a man and then seems to be gaslit…
October 28, 2025 at 7:13 AM
📖 123) BlackBerry Pie Murder - Joanne Fluke. I dusted off one in this cosy mystery series to see if I felt any differently. Not really - still very “tick list” and predictable.
October 27, 2025 at 10:01 PM
📖 122) Desperate Spies - Mark de Castrique. Cosy mystery featuring a former FBI agent and her double cousin once removed. Enjoyable read.
October 27, 2025 at 9:47 PM
📖 121) Death and the Final Cut - G. M. Malliet. Cosy mystery based around a film set.
October 27, 2025 at 9:45 PM
📖 120) Stay Buried - Kate Webb. Decent mystery where a prisoner contacts the detective who helped put her away 14 years ago, to help free her now that the man she supposedly killed is alive and back…
October 27, 2025 at 9:42 PM
📖 119) Skulduggery Pleasant - Playing With Fire - Derek Landy. Second in the series, still funny.
October 27, 2025 at 9:37 PM
📖 118) Quantum of Solace - @vaseemkhanuk.bsky.social New series by a favourite author, this one featuring Q from the James Bond series. Excellent and newly on shelves now.
October 27, 2025 at 9:36 PM
📖 117) Death in Trafalgar Square - Michelle Salter. Cosy historical mystery, first in a series, featuring a suffragette and a detective working together to solve a murder. Really enjoyable read.
October 27, 2025 at 9:23 PM
📖 116) The Strange Brew - M. N. Cox. I thought this was going to be more crime with a slight supernatural twist, but it ended up far more on the supernatural end for me.
October 27, 2025 at 9:19 PM
📖 115) Skulduggery Pleasant - Derek Landy. Revisiting this series to refresh my memory. Still good.
October 27, 2025 at 9:11 PM
📖 114) Murder on a Bus Tour - Dawn Brookes. Cosy mystery where our four older amateur sleuths try to figure out who killed one of their bus tour group.
October 27, 2025 at 9:09 PM
📖 113) Unnatural Ends - Christopher Huang. Family try to solve the murder of their Dad, who by all accounts was a bit of a tyrant.
