I made this today. Didn't have a pie dish so the edges are messy. Followed recipe exactly except used 4 pears as they were small. It's a bit of a fiddle but SO worth it, absolutely delicious. Thank you!

He's a shitty person at the best of times but this makes me really sick.

Since he wasn't called at any point - he did no more than sit and wait - should he have this information? Is it legal? I should know nothing about this case. He is taking delight in knowing details which are being passed on throughout his circle, outside it by now. I hate that I even heard them.

We'll have to agree to differ. I don't believe these things belong on the pavement, you do. There is no common ground here.
November 28, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Not really. Pavements are for people to walk on. Or, obviously, use a wheelchair or other walking aid. That's quite simple.
November 28, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Of course they are allowed, that's pedestrian traffic. But delivery by foot is pretty rare. Delivery bikes are not allowed on the pavement. Same should apply to these non-pedestrian vehicles.

For non-pedestrian traffic. Just like bikes are not allowed use pavements.

I still don't think businesses should be permitted to use space reserved for pedestrians in this way. They should be on the road, but of course if they were creating even the most minor nuisance for motorists they'd be banned in the morning.

So now it'll be training itself on its own slop. That'll lead to a great uptick in quality.
November 28, 2025 at 1:41 PM
What about wheelchair users? People pushing buggies? If there are several of them together? Pavements are for pedestrians and businesses encroaching on that space with their gadgets may not quite rise to "inflicting misery" but is creating an unnecessary nuisance.

Back in the day when there was no infrastructure, though less traffic, I cycled everywhere in Dublin. So many accidents and near misses. Including being knocked off my bike at a junction by the professor I would next see the following morning in an oral exam - which went far better than I expected!

A very I'm alright Jack article. Yeah there are 300k in arrears on their electricity bills but most of us are fine so never mind.

I very much doubt that independent thinking in even a rudimentary form was part of Mammy's curriculum at his home school.

This is not being discussed by anyone, except like two dozen guys in the UK MoD who have a colonial mindset about the whole thing, and maybe twice that number in Dublin - most Fine Gael-adjacent desperate for the big boy countries to like Ireland and/or them personally

The idea that Ireland's "vulnerability" is a major headache for EU/NATO strategic planners is simply not factually accurate. I spend a lot of time reading the work of, speaking to, and listening at conferences to these people, and I have literally never heard this mentioned! It's not on their minds!

If RTE stopped using twitter either to post or as a news source, many of the politicians, govt departments and agencies, who complain about the poisonous discourse and abuse, might leave too. Makes zero sense to stay, though I suspect they are addicted to their follower counts.
November 26, 2025 at 12:05 AM
Even more ridiculous because significantly under half of Irish people ever used twitter, and ever fewer use it now. It was always lazy, now it's just a complete lack of concern for customers and a willingness to swim in filth.
