$ jj new -b main # Let's say, to start afresh
$ jj describe -m "update readme"
$ jj bookmark create update-readme # or jj b c update-readme
$ jj new
$ vim README.md

$ jj git push -b update-readme --allow-new

Alrighty. I tried this technique, basically. Added dry thyme with the salt and chicken right at the start. Used leeks for the veg. Looking and smelling good.
