And in September, 2025 an AZ
state legislator (R) suggested she should be executed. But she hasn't backed down. newrepublic.com/post/201016/...
GOP Official Calls for Democratic Congresswoman to Be Executed
As the nation talks about the rise of political violence, a Republican official blatantly called for Representative Pramila Jayapal to be hanged.

Representative Jayapal has been working hard, she's been holding town halls, participating in local protests, sending out a comprehensive weekly update. She continues to be visible despite a man going to her home in 2022 and threatening to kill her. 1/2

Most of the fires currently burning in the Cascades are lightning caused. Per NIFC, more total fires than last year, but less acreage burned. Could have additional activity due to conditions, but we're not too far out from season ending events. SoCal, however, is just getting started.

Recs from the kick I'm on of re-reads of some older stuff: Of Men and Mountains; My Wilderness, The Pacific West both by William O. Douglas; Touching the Void by Joe Simpson. And my sister just gave me A Year in Paradise by Floyd Schmoe about living on Mt. Rainier in the 1900s, it's great so far.

Yay! Love them! Do you have a huckleberry comb/harvester or do you pick them one at a time (individually is my preference, because you can eat more in the moment, but wowza I've seen people clean up with the harvesters).

Agree on the dill beans. The recipe we use from Mom is below - think it's from the circa 1970s cookbook "Stocking Up: How to Preserve the Foods You Grow, Naturally" by Carol Stoner. But a stockpot of boiled green beans, new potatoes, bacon, and salt and pepper is also a family favorite.

We're undiscerning rubes, so we use walnuts instead of pine nuts, and even throw a few jalapenos in some of the batches we process. I know, I know, Marcella Hazan would be appalled. But even we like to make it with quality Parmesan cheese!
