One of the other kids lead her over to one of the story area and told her the story about God making a promise to Abraham that his descendants would be more numerous than the stars and sand. "You have a family, we're your family." That student assured the distraught 5th grader. I cried.

This is from some years ago, a 5th grade or so kid's parents divorced, and one parent recently had a new baby. The 5th grade burst into tears upon sitting in the circle for class. She said, "I don't have a family anymore" feeling lonely with the changed family dynamics.

Does this make him 1.6666666667 times better of a president than Roosevelt?

In the videos I saw, the TikTok scammer is asking for a “small can of baby formula.” A friend who does a lot with her church’s outreach ministries says formula is often asked for because it can be resold or returned for cash

For those wondering, some big account decided to quote post with a bunch of assumptions to send a mob after me. Then posted screen shots when I blocked. Taking that silliness back to Twitter

-pack 80-100 bags of food weekly to go home with food insecure elementary students over the weekend
-utility assistance
-ongoing protein bar drive for low barrier day shelter
-connect people who call with area resources

Being mad at churches might feel good but it does nothing

I was way more liberal Protestant in my views going into seminary. Jesus Seminar, Tillich-tinged, physical resurrection agnostic. God used seminary to convert me afresh

I don’t know that she’s doing this specifically because snap is cut off

Very polite of you to announce that it’s a test first
November 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM
I think these two things are true:
1. Churches should provide help or connect people to resources.
2. People should not be calling churches to "test" them by falsely presenting themselves as people in need in order to create content for the Internet

What exactly is your counterpoint? That you and I should have spent our time cold calling churches prior to the SNAP shut off to see what they'd say?
