Some fuckin' guy or another. Rollercoaster enjoyer, polytheistic weird fiction cultist, mediocre talent for self-deprecation.
Yeah. I'm normally down to be snobbish about people not understanding how party discipline (doesn't) work in federal American politics, but shit like this isn't really supposed to happen.

King can't be primaried, and considering the state of the race with Collins, I doubt the Dems there can come up with someone who can beat him under their party line

Here I am nodding my head and thinking what you're saying makes perfect sense. I forgot we live in some Gilliam fever dream, now.

Always nice to have data for the least surprising things on Earth

(In the interests of affect not being lost via text; this isn't sarcasm)

Disadvantages of having morals and principles as opposed to naked political id, I guess.

There isn't a version of getting the public to believe in a war that doesn't involve celebrating the death of enemy soldiers. There just isn't.

I understand having a healthy disdain for war generally, as a concept, but if you believe in self-defense? This is what it looks like.

And that's the less offensive version. The other version is the one that's a dog whistle for anti-American authoritarianism.

This isn't twitter. People don't tweet here.

Part of the problem here is that more than a few people have taken historical lesson that shutdowns are a terrible idea because the incumbents always win

A little unknown fact about Zohran is that many of his most prominent critics are unaware of his existence

Are there any solid multiplayer extraction games that are strictly PvE besides MWZ? Doesn't have to be a shooter.

'Gayest angel of all time' is not an especially low bar either

All true. It's still a winning hand.

I'm increasingly feeling like an idiot for wanting to avoid the sticks. I mean, let's be clear; the 'sticks' are often 'ruining people's lives'.

This might be an effective and even necessary style of politics given the climate, but I fucking hate it.

I have to say, it's kind of funny that there's so little will in the Senate to end the hard filibuster. Basically the only thing most people on both sides of the aisle seem to understand is how horrifically dysfunctional it's become, and this is the best band-aid they can think of.
November 7, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Politically, it probably would be a win for them. Maybe not as big a win as busting the filibuster could be, but there's there's also the actual material angle to consider. Considering the executive is resorting to suing to try and keep SNAP unpaid, the non-caving scenarios don't seem great.

Part of what makes me angry about this stuff is that a bunch of these people would probably happily have been talking up oppressive copyright not five years ago. No principles. No beliefs. Just vibes.

I'm coming to understand that this is how most people are. It's gross.

It helps that politically, he's got a winning hand at the moment.
