J schools really need to get better at teaching security, and newspapers need to get better at drilling it into their journalists. This stuff is inexcusable.
The FBI was able to access Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson's Signal messages because she used Signal on her work laptop. The laptop accepted Touch ID for authentication, meaning the agents were allowed to require her to unlock it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

a couple people that follow me don’t necessarily get what this means (and that’s great because your mind has not been in the mud) but in essence it means Epstein asked for the creation of the forum that originated the Qanon conspiracy theory + also originated alt-right (e.g adaptations of Pepe meme)
did jeffrey epstein specifically request the creation of /pol/
he also appears to have met moot the same day /pol/ was (re)launched (not my image)

I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

The QAnon and Pizzagate conspiracy theories on /pol/ were such strange distortions of reality because they were limited hangouts by the actual child sex traffickers trying to mislead the public and deflect blame from themselves. Just... mull that over.

Remember that time I ended up in court with Elon Musk after he bet me the cave diver was a pedo?

Anyway, here’s Elon begging Jeffrey Epstein for crazy parties on his private island, several years after Epstein was convicted of sex trafficking girls.

Ain’t I been telling you the reactionary backlash was driven by the very rich and powerful watching regular people use social media to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sex crimes, then watching him dragged sobbing to jail, unprotected by his enormous wealth? What do you think the cancel culture panic was.

The wealthy have class solidarity and we'll only beat them when we have it too
every epstein file drop underscores how elite power operates through shared socio-economic networks, regardless of people's ideological differences, populist posturing, or public feuds

In 2016 Jeffrey Epstein is discussing going to DEFCON with Vincenzo Iozzo. Epstein says “I think i will bring tom pritzjer and ehud barak plus 4 girsl” and Iozzo replies “Btw defcon has gotten pretty commercial - it's full of cameras”

i also tweeted at him about this photo; he replied to me claiming he did not know Ghislaine and that he was only at the same Vanity Fair party as her because of his partner at the time, actress Tallulah Riley. those tweets have also been deleted from my account, not by me.

This is a core part of the protocol, that's not exactly simple (spec.matrix.org/v1.17/server...)

They just have TODO comments, and happily accept anything, even if it's blatantly forged

Rather than implementing the critical state resolution algorithm that's the core of Matrix, they just directly insert the latest state into the database. That'll instantly lead to diverging views of the room and incompatibility with every other implementation - and it's also a massive security hole.

Google DeepMind staffers are pressing leadership on their plans to safeguard the 3,000-person unit from ICE agents.

"As we have seen, government agency tactics can change and escalate quite rapidly. With offices in many metro areas across the US, are we prepared?"

Went to my local library this morning to do a bit of research for my current book project and my goodness such a life-affirming space! There was an adult being taught to read on the next table, children enjoying story time, countless people taking out books. So grateful for our libraries ❤️
