My recent experiment: 2 sticks and 2 beads. Both work. Neither works well. The one on the left is better, especially when used supported. They need heavier whorls.
The wool is some I dyed last fall (black walnut) and some scraps I carded (burgundy) and added in to see what happens.

I won yarn chicken! (4-5")
This buttoned cowl (www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...) is made with yarn that I #handdyed and #handspun . It's cable plied from 4 singles, all done on a drop spindle. ~100g.
The wool was dyed using pokeweed berries in a basic solution, which is why it's an unusual color.

This is a very fun new pattern. I've been knitting the scarf, which feels like it's just flying off my needles.
It's garter stitch lace, so it feels fancy but has no purls.

Another of my current WIPs: the diamond ear warmer by Sunny Links. I'm knitting it double, though, using two leftover colors of Bernat Lattice yarn. It's slow going because the pattern wasn't written for double knitting, so I have to concentrate. I'm enjoying the challenge.
