So proud of this comment today from a student evaluation: “Finally someone taking the time to actually explain how to use R. This is the 4th unit I have done that required it and the first time I feel I can actually use it after doing the course.”

What seems to not be understood is that #Autistic people are under +15x more cognitive load per second (my math) than allistic folk. We are built to process every 👏🏽 bit 👏🏽 of 👏🏽 input & need scaffolding to operate in AllisticLand. We burn out anyway because support is woefully insufficient.

I want to keep on being the contradictory guy who's into poetry, the environment, and nature AND loves metal music, fishing and shooting, and sometimes just wants to smash things.

Feeling anger and frustration because a large part of my masking is to say 'yes' to stuff I really don't want to do.
How to undo 60 years of being Mr Easygoing.

In Australia there is a thing called a "mental health plan" where you can get your GP to sign off on subsidised mental health care. So that's what I'm waiting to do right now. The next step now that I've found a neuroaffirming therapist is to get some sessions with her - first avail. end of March 😣

could also be derived from "agnostic", as in "I don't know and I don't care"
Ooo this is a good one ☺️

While Uni Vice-Chancellors rake in millions, young researchers struggle to survive
Australia's university Vice-Chancellors are among the highest paid in the world, while Australia's PhD students are some of the lowest paid. That is not a sign of a healthy education system.

thinking about why I so often feel at the edge of my sanity... my current theory is that auties can be over-introspective , and anyone spending so much time examining the inner workings of their own mind is bound to see a bit of craziness after a while...
