Im Zentrum meiner Forschung stehen Ameisen. Vielleicht fange ich daher mit einer kleinen Einführung in soziale Insekten an: Bei Termiten, Ameisen und vielen Bienen und Wespen ist nämlich einiges anders als bei normalen Insekten. Sie leben in Gruppen, die Millionen von Individuen enthalten können.
