Septuagenarian relocated to South Lanarkshire, where it's wet , windy and wonderful, though I didn't expect quite so much wind!
I don't understand what woke is but I have a feeling I'm kind of woke-ish, as I don't like those that keep going on about it.
My vision for transitioning our fossil fuel industry - forging the future through retaining and retraining the workforce and repurposing the infrastructure, avoiding lay-offs and damaging communities.

Here's a poster I created, themed on the idea of regeneration of our fossil fuel industry into the new world of renewable energy.
It's along the style of those British Rail posters which provides the element of tradition. Hope you like it!

The UK's stance on Russian oil is dismissed by Modi ; India actually supplies UK with oil received from Russia. This loophole will close early 2026 but cheap #Russianoil is a factor in the close down of #Lindsey refinery.
Should the state step in and support a more gradual transition away from oil?

When you wake up at night and feel the world is going to hell in a handcart , what better than a bit of self realisation? Unconsciously, I chose Vishnu , the Preserver, the supreme Lord who creates, protects, and transforms the universe.

I don't think that's true.
Let's ask Copilot.

Russian LNG us still getting into Europe however, via Dunkirk.
58 cargoes for Germany alone in 2024!
Germany has reduced Russian imports by 95%, which is very good, but you can see that last 5% is still significant.

Trump wants Europe to stop buying Russian oil.
For a change, he's right.
Here are the main offenders: Hungary and Slovakia.
Combined, they contributed to €1.1 billion in fuel sales to Russia from the EU in one year.

" In 2019 Netanyahu said :
Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas. This is part of our strategy – to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank."

Asked Microsoft's AI about SSE's plans for an offshore windfarm and , after some initially useful info, it asked me what I thought about using new offshore wind tech on Blackgate Moss, which is an inland area of peatland I had asked about previously. Utter nonsense and should serve as a warning.

THE UK IS too scared of repercussions from USA to do the right thing.
I thought Keir's strength was on the international stage but it looks like I'm wrong. Very disappointing if he fails to act now.

Thought it would be interesting to compare the performance of UK and US index trackers this year. My data is not precisely like for like as I bought some US stock in January and UK stock in April but note the point when the US dived (hint: Trump)
The UK is by far the better performer.

Thought The Guardian headline (Wes Streeting says chants about IDF at Glastonbury festival ‘appalling’) was a bit hard on Wes Streeting. What he actually said in the piece was very good.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this photo from the Guardian just now doesn't look like a bunch of ordinary cars that have been hit by a missile. Every roof looks like it's been picked up by a JCB or similar.
Can anyone explain this?

What a nice photo on the front page of the Guardian this morning. I really feel for Zelensky and it looks like Starmer and Macron do too. It's times like these one needs to have friends one can trust and depend on for support.

It's ridiculously chilly this August morning in Scotland. Is that it for summer? Our sunflowers haven't seen enough sun to flower yet, no cobs in our corn, no pods on our beans. We've had some interesting fungi though!

You had to be reasonably wealthy to get on of these but impressive that EVs could have become the norm. What a difference that would have made!
