I started writing and couldn't possibly fit this into a thread so have some document screenshots about the hurdles that Airraim and Zin have to navigate. Turns out that being tied to someone's existence as a personification of their suppressed emotions makes relationships a bit tricky. #zinlore
The biggest hurdle is probably the nature of Airraim’s existence, as Zin’s Esteem, and the many consequences of that. Airraim does not have an existence separate from Zin, and though she can (and does) develop more into her own person, she will never be separate from her. She relies on Zin not just for the aether she uses to manifest, but for her entire existence in general; it was Zin’s choice in DRK 80 that led to Airraim still having the separation she has, rather than merging back into Zin’s soul. If Zin had not accepted Airraim’s confession, Airraim likely would have sought to remove that separation. She’s never told Zin this, because the choice Zin made to accept her love would never have been free of the implied “or else I stop existing.” She suspects that Zin has thought that through and reached that conclusion anyway, but Zin won’t share that. They don’t get a lot of secrecy, though, and what things they do keep from each other have to be tamped down hard. Airraim’s origin is still in being an expression of Zin’s emotions, so she knows Zin’s emotions. She’s gotten better at not “eavesdropping” but given that she existed first to get Zin to confront the things she was bottling up and refusing to acknowledge, it’s difficult for her to do when it comes to things like that. Airraim is jealous. Not only does she have no existence that isn’t tied to Zin, but she is a personification of love for Zin–love in every way that Zin needed to be loved, which includes the romantic and erotic. She may understand at a root level the Miqo’te tendency toward multiple partners, because she’s of Zin and therefore understands those things that Zin does. But that doesn’t mean she has the same attitude about it, given the reasons driving her jealousy. Zin hasn’t really had significant past relationships but she has had a lot of casual fun interactions, but that changed with Airraim’s confession. Zin does not regret their relationship being as it is, but she does feel a bit stifled from indulging. The problem is that Airraim fully understands that it wouldn’t be the start of something that replaces her, but still has a hard time with the idea of letting anyone else get that close to Zin and potentially hurt her. (Joining in would be entirely out of the question. Airraim has zero interest in intimacy with anyone who isn’t Zin.) So when Zin does reach out to someone else, Airraim has a very difficult time with it, and the first time it happened, it did change things. Not the shape of their relationship or the ways they love each other, but that awareness that it can never be quite the same as it was. They can’t fight. Rather, they can’t have unresolved negative emotions between the two of them. Both of them are aware of how the other is feeling, so existing in their own discomfort of being at odds is magnified by knowing that the other is feeling the same. They have to work through whatever it is, or they both become steadily more miserable as rejection sensitivity further amplifies the issue. There’s also the amount of “no one will understand” that means that they remain each other’s confidant, which doesn’t help matters when it comes to those rare occasions of fights and being at odds. Few people have even been told the basics of Airraim’s nature in the first place. There’s a lot of benefits to Airraim’s existence being as it is and understanding Zin at such a deep level–like knowing exactly what Zin wants and needs and being able to act on it, and the fun involved in getting Zin to admit to it, while Zin knows that Airraim couldn’t possibly be shocked or put off by any of it. Airraim is her darkness, after all. But the consequences of Airraim not being a separate individual leads to a dynamic utterly different to a relationship with someone whose existence could have continued without ever being touched by Zin. The two of them have to do an awful lot of work to navigate that.

She held herself back from the question that nagged at her, instead letting the music settle, and hoping it had jogged something, some memory, some faded recollection. Not on her part, but on that of her audience. G'raha leaned against the wall, his head bowed toward his crossed arms and his eyes closed. All that betrayed his awareness was the movement of his tailtip, which flicked in time with the music she had just finished playing. Evidence that he was going over it in his mind, but the lack of immediate response made her worry that this may yet be a dead end after all. Finally he moved, his hand resting by his mouth in a considering gesture. “You’ve brought me a bit of a riddle, my friend,” he said, his bright eyes meeting hers. “And I confess that I cannot give you a confident answer, much to my dismay.”

A thing that's really neat about clearing UWU as my first Ultimate is that Airraim's canonical weapon is the Deathbringer, and now Zin has Deathbringer Ultima.
(Yeah I'm figuring out how the Ultimate works into canon events. Somehow.)

We had a group event to farm EW EX mounts with a HARDBOILED glam theme, and I'm really pleased with what I put together for it that would work on tank :> Left my comfort zone, too, by putting Zin in a long hairstyle!
