was talking to some people about this in-game and it came to my attention that there is a whole generation of xiv players who didn't see the nier rein crossover weapon stories
so i decided to throw them together in an accessible format
nier reincarnation art for vanargand, and its weapon story: The black mage who wove the arts of destruction thinks of the calamity to come in 2,300 years. Will oral traditions change? Will books become ash? So she sends her own memories into the far future. In short, the black mage made a bet and won. 2,300 years later, her memories are revived, and she is surprised to learn the taboo magic she created has been discovered and learned by certain other mages. The mage joins her future adherents to fight monsters who seek to bring about the calamity by summoning the stars. Their only hope is her magic of destruction—the very same magic that already took so many lives. The mages use the arts of destruction to save the world, unbeknown to many. But before vanishing, the great dark mage leaves her pride and joy⁠—her staff—to her disciple. It is an old thing, with the remains of a monster at its head. nier reincarnation art for gae bolg, and its weapon story: In the snowy mountains to the north lies a land that has warred with dragons for an age. And among its people, mighty knights known as dragoons raise their spears high to protect the people. When his last foe fell, light spilled from the warrior, transforming the hero into one who pushed back the dark. Yet even so, his sword supported him, and he found the strength to continue on. He defeated the ancient mage. He snuffed out the primordial hero. The Warrior of Darkness persevered through adversity and returned darkness to the sky, thus the people named his sword "Shadowbringer."

A segment of FFXIV's 7.3 patch notes: Graphical adjustments have been made to player character models based on feedback from the community. In conjunction with these adjustments, players can obtain a phial of Fantasia from the wandering moogle in Old Gridania (X: 10.7, Y: 6.4) for a limited period of time. This reward will be obtainable until the release of Patch 7.4

I started on Lamia because that’s where my friends were. At some point there was an FC implosion that made my friends want to get distance from the FC, so they transferred to the other DC entirely (at the time there were only two NA DCs) and ended up on Balmung. I followed. Been here ever since.

I made Zin a cousin of D’fhul Tia, the squadron NPC from the Grey Fleet. He and his adventuring crew escorted Zin most of the way to Gridania when she started her journey; they had to split off from her after hearing of a nearby hunt mark, so she entered Gridania according to the cutscene.
