Banff Accordion and Fiddle Club then entertained the company with an enjoyable musical programme. Mr Guthrie proposed a vote of thanks and a happy evening ended with the singing of "We're nae awa' tae bide awa'". #OnThisDay

although once by a very small margin indeed. As there is a fully licensed hotel just outside the burgh boundary, the dry status in the burgh was obviously perpetuated more from formalism than because the no-licence regime had abolished the facilities for securing alcoholic beverages.
