‘Trunk or treat’ is a fun way for rural folks to give candy to children (and adults 😏)

Summer found a beach snack; a lone male transient orca freaked out three stellars sealions which was kinda cute; a posse of mixed gulls nooked in from a brisk northwest wind. #outsideisawesome #quadraisland

Could BC’s forestry crisis stem from more than tariffs? It’s nauseating seeing a cut of less than 10 acres with these massive burn piles, each bigger than my house. Not only an unnecessary carbon spill but what a freaking waste! Brought to you by Mosaic on Quadra Island. FYI, @rparmarbc.bsky.social

An owl release happens at dusk when the weather is dry to help support reintegration. Stoked to have played a part in the rescue and release of this Barred Owl. #goodnews #QuadraIsland

‘Calibra’ onions, cured and ready for storage. And a puppy butt passing by.

Evening light on wild peas and hazy coast range — outside is awesome, and an antidote to the chaos 🤷‍♀️

Apart from the insanity of this, I cannot believe he’s whinging about US dairy access. Canada doesn’t permit the torture of cows with bovine growth hormone and we won’t accept nasty dairy in our food chain

It’s lake swim season! And Quadra Island has so many lakes ✨ Newton Lake has a special colour and was a refreshing dip today.

My dad is 94. Yesterday he gave me his spices: he said ‘I’m not gonna get around to using these so you should’. Incredibly, the ground cloves smell potent still. #vintagetins

Discovered something happening in the garden today… metamorphosis in action. A sphinx moth becoming its flighted self. It climbed up a grass stem, waiting for its wings to slowly fill. A lepidopterist friend came to see it and moved it to a plum branch. Such a treat to observe all day 😍 #moth

Double overload ferry and then a slow roll across the passage as the ferry captain waits for this tug & mega-load of supplies to pass as it heads north. #islandlife
