I hate listening to Americans talk about "the left" this, and "the left" that, and the whole time, they're referring to fucking liberals. Like, liberals aren't part of the Left. Leftism (socialism, communism, and anarchism) starts at ANTI CAPITALISM. Liberals are fucking capitalist ghouls.

It is good to be atheist. It actively improves your engagement with and understanding of the world.
The small reactionary section of atheists is elevated and blown out of proportion because they are aligned with the bourgeoisie. The vast majority of “nones” are vastly more progressive / left leaning in their politics than any other group. “Nones” are now 30% of the population.
