This particular clinic also said it would cost $15 for me to be emailed the actual results of my study, which is so demonstrably absurd that it is not abating my "this is a racket" suspicions.

I'm not a conspiratorial person at all, but I've never heard of someone not being recommended one. I just had the study myself (to rule out another issue, I don't really have issues sleeping) and surprise, surprise, they recommended one for me too!

I have seen the same song and dance play out so many times in the last decade and half: the author's objection, always, is that society is rotten, and their "solution", always, is total societal reorganization, with even herculean political endeavors being presented as less than the bare minimum.

Can you explain why the local eatery with scheduled employees who were forced to come in despite the weather because of that schedule should be supported while the gig worker that can choose to start and stop anytime in their day (without fear of retaliation) should not?

I'll never understand takes like this for a job that you can work (and stop working) whenever you want. "They choose do this right now, but I know what's better for them better than they do" is very rarely a good take.

These apps are exploitative on a good day. But the weather doesn't change that

Another example of how progressive (and/or even socialist) candidates can win important elections if they focus on the right things!

I wish more progressive politicians would realize how effective stuff like this is. The Fords were/are so electorally successful because they're good at the low hanging fruit that gets people on their side.
