Founded in London in 1902, The Dickens Fellowship is a worldwide association of people who share an interest in the life and works of the novelist, journalist and social reformist Charles Dickens (1812-1870).
Yesterday the world lost one of its greatest Dickens scholars, Professor Michael Slater MBE. He was DF President 1988-1990 and Hon Editor of ‘The Dickensian’ 1958-1977, and wrote the definitive biography of CD. His warmth and wisdom will be sorely missed. RIP Michael.

RT from Ian Dickens, on X: ‘A Christmas Carol’ illustrator John Leech spent 3 months in Bonchurch in 1849. The pretty house he rented is now for sale at £825,000. In one of the bedrooms, Dickens successfully used his mesmerism skills after Leech suffered a head injury while swimming in rough seas.
