The BBC has been banned from using the word Kidnap to describe the Kidnapping of Maduro.

No doubt when Greenland is invaded they will be banned from using the word invasion.

Why does Starmer oppose the death penalty on basis mistakes are made, but not assisted dying? Does he really believe vulnerable people won't get sucked into a medically-assisted suicide they shouldn't be able to consent to?

'It is about recognising that everybody has rights in this situation, but where you are providing single-sex services, the supreme court has said those have to be on the basis of biological sex.”'
Quite so.

The 2010 Equality Act & Supreme Court ruling details scenarios in which 'a segregationist approach' is lawful. The exceptions. For example in sport 'a segregationist approach' is essential to upholding equal rights for female people to play compete and win. Do you not support these exceptions?

Yes to the first question (not a single sex space) no to the second (not involve discrimination). Males/men without transgender identities are excluded. So sex discrimination. Plus females/women may be disproportionately disadvantaged so indirect sex discrimination.

She said: “Feminists and campaigners fought for a very, very long time to establish that principle and it is an important principle, but it’s there for a good reason because it’s about safety for women and about having the space and the time to really heal after trauma."

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social PM Starmer 'went on to welcome last year’s Supreme Court ruling despite a backlash from trans rights campaigners and some of his own MPs, responding to the judgment by saying that “a woman is an adult human female” and said the court had provided “clarity” on the issue.'

Exactly.

Love this in @theguardian.com on single-sex spaces guidance:
'Trans rights campaigners and some inside the [EHRC] commission criticised the interim advice as overly literal'.

'Overly literal' = legally accurate.
