I've always wanted to know more about Kirby, and the release of Air Riders was the perfect excuse for that. I spoke to Eliza from @kirbyinformer.com all about her site, the new game, several other games, and all points in between.

Episode 029 of Dialogue Tree is available now.

Electroplankton is a quiet part of my entire personality.

I’ve been refreshing @designroom.bsky.social roughly every 30 seconds since @mattleone.bsky.social mentioned on @backpagepod.bsky.social that there was going to be a feature on the game.

Tomorrow's episode features jazz, a trip to France, and at least one audible gasp from my guest.

Also, I've spent more time on editing out my horrible laugh than I have on anything else.

A visual poem about video games. There's more in this 3 minutes than most can manage in 30.

“I'm sorry, but this all feels so… insidious? A collective prank: engineering the perfect way to waste humanity’s time and energy.”

This articulates my reaction to BALL X PIT better than I ever could:

vehemently's review of Ball x Pit | Backloggd
Kenny Sun, the designer of Ball x Pit, is a bit of an unsung figure. He’s been making games for years and hasn't until now really seen a breakout hit. I only heard about his work through some...

A great OST, the perfect accompaniment to your next gathering of mystics, rogues and spirit chasing charlatans.

I used “Evelyn’s Theme (Nocturne)” in episode 028 of Dialogue Tree:

My favourite game of 2024 just got a major free update.

Their publisher imploded in their original release week, but they’ve continually supported the game, whilst working on this. It’s a gorgeous, kinetic and incredibly challenging Metroidvania. (1/2)

Hearing someone go on an extended, articulate and relatable tear on a *horrible* sounding game that a lot of people seem to be pretending to like is one of life’s little thrills 🎧
This one's got everything: Dunkalatte talk, Willa's neighbors doing construction, Robin playing a game where you are a little mouse, but the main event is – of course – Willa going on an extended rant about a game she hates that most people love.

It took me 25 minutes to articulate *some* of why this game is good. The ever excellent Flow State did a better job in 4.

The Séance of Blake Manor's two biggest strengths are the depth of its characters and the depth of its Irish setting. Both of these make it a better detective game.

Rage quit a podcast today that was dumping on Nintendo charging $5 for the Animal Crossing Switch 2 upgrade, that in the same breath, said Nintendo should release an AC themed mouse that they would 100% buy.

Made my head hurt.

Haven’t done a straight review episode for a while. I find them intimidating. But…

@spookydoorway.bsky.social’s The Séance of Blake Manor inspired me, to both cover the game AND to trawl through hours of 60’s British horror TV and a Stewart Lee documentary in service of putting the sound together.
