an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation grown over 25 years, in Walgett, remote NSW, where the Ngamaay joins the Baawan (rivers). Full members are Aboriginal people living in Walgett over the age of 60.
We have a funds submission in now to NIAA that will provide 2 more staff that will allow us to start some extended hours 🤞🏼

The Walgett Wellbeing Collaboration is collaboration between Dharriwaa Elders Group, Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service & Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) Limited. ACCO-delivered services urgently require sustainable government support to address wellbeing needs of Walgett children & young people.

We had a great day out visiting the sources of Castlereagh, Ngamaay Rivers that Minister Sharpe could protect if she chooses. It was so good to finally meet with you Big T fellow water warrior and look forward to seeing you again before too long #waterislife

“We encourage all Aboriginal people in the Namoi and Barwon valleys to apply for Specific Purpose Water Access Licences. Any Aboriginal person that wants to apply for a water licence can come to Dharriwaa Elders Group in Walgett. We can explain the licences to you and help you apply for one.” 📣💧🐟

2/3: These licences are for 10 megalitres each & available to Aboriginal people for cultural purposes under NSW Water Sharing Plans. “We are looking forward to Aboriginal people owning water. We will use the water for cultural outcomes & the health of the rivers,” Sandra Suey-Thorne, DEG Speaker.
