Front-end/design systems engineer (web components, a11y, CSS, JS; former full-stack/ColdFusion developer), metalhead, geek, father.
Saw Volbeat for the first time in over a decade with my son last night at Jiffy Lube Live. Seats were great - front and center in the orchestra section behind the pit. They do an amazing job of creating headbanging riffs with catchy hooks and vocal melodies and the singing was spot-on.

Did text nodes always inherit a flexbox or css grid item context or was that added later? I swear I thought they did not work properly when I first started using flex and grid several years ago.

Back from my 5th 70000 Tons of Metal (counting Barge To Hell*). It's been 7 years since my last one. It was my first on my own without knowing anyone but I still had a great time seeing all the bands. I thought the lineup was great despite skipping some of the biggest bands (symphonic/power metal).

Amazing article that articulates so well what so few managers consider (in my experience) and I've seen firsthand. On the design system front, it's why I push strong requirements and documentation, but not everyone is a writer and that still only goes so far.

Software Design is Knowledge Building
The product of software development is not code but a mental model, a theory: a specific way of explaining the world.

Sounds great, along with playing media in the app, it's a far better experience than other social media so far.
We want Bluesky to be a great home for journalists, publishers, and creators. Unlike other platforms, we don't de-promote your links. Post all the links you want — Bluesky is a lobby to the open web.
Traffic from Bluesky's @bsky.app to @theguardian.com is already 2x that of Threads

In its first week on the platform & with 300k followers, Bluesky traffic from @theguardian.com posts is already higher than it was from TwX in any week in 2024, where the account had 10.8m followers, but🧵

#CSS trick not enough folks know about:

painting into the sub boxes of an element
- border
- padding
- content

you can paint into one, or all of them differently!

here's a gradient border, a solid padding fill, and a gradient content (inner) box

see fur yerself

Decided to create a Starter Pack that's the intersection between #WebComponents and #DesignSystems. Would love to add more people who are actively building Web Components into their design systems

Every time I load up this app to doom scroll, I find an interesting article to read. By the end of the day it's like I have homework.

And another great starter pack. Because accessibility should be part of your front end work and especially design systems.
I created a web accessibility and inclusion starter pack. Comment with your favourite accessibility folks, and I'll add them to the list. #a11y

This one too.
Bit late to the game, but I've made a Front-end Friend starter pack 😊.

I know I forgot people from this, but I think it's a good start!

This was super helpful finding the missing people I followed on Twitter.
Here’s another starter pack. This one is for all the people who love #CSS, #CSS, #CSS! 😁🤘✨

(LMK if you know more CSS folks I should add! 💚)

I left Twitter before the buyout, as it was clearly going downhill. I didn't miss it and when I finally got my blue sky invite about a year ago, I didn't care anymore.

But here we are. I finally signed up and the vibes are good. I've found most of my web dev/front end folks I followed already.
