r6d19: Time to shift focus! Beyond #Codeberg love, now diving into #rust #graphql #webcomponents & leaving #BigTech with #notrump.

Looking for "Tour of Rust" (like y.lab.nrw/gotr for Go) – does it exist? Should we build it? Or maybe #JupyterNotebook with Rust? 🤔

i'm speaking at fosdem in a couple of weeks time in the browser's room, talking about lustre and how it builds on #webcomponents rather than fights them.

are there things folks would be interested in hearing about? compared to most other frameworks i think we have quite a different opinion

A production-ready web component starter template. @aaron-gustafson.com presents a setup wizard, Vitest testing, GitHub Actions CI, and secure npm publishing, so you can focus on your component, not a boilerplate. #webcomponents #js #tools

Built a ridiculous crappy guestbook. Because why not, I guess?

Pretty much vibe coded from my phone on the exe.dev box's builtin "Shelley" web agent. Auto https via exe.dev magic! Pretty solid experience!! ~90 min. Preact, WebComponents.

Hmmm... I may be rethinking my strategy with the #WebComponents Language Server. Writing it in Node requires it to be installed to use it or any of the extensions. That's kind of annoying for our #dotnet, #php, #java, #golang, #rust, and #ruby friends

We have Custom Elements, but do we also need Custom Attributes?

This was discussed at TPAC. Is it something you'd like on the platform?

Do your Lit-Element web components care about media queries? Does it have to know if the user prefers-reduced-animation? Now you can with just a decorator:

```
@mediaQuery("(prefers-reduced-motion: reduce)")
public prefersReducedMotion = false;
```

Apparently not ._.

This looks like the constant that defines where #Vite looks for assets in HTML: github.com/vitejs/vite/...

Can't find any way to extend this, so probably nobody who uses #webcomponents or made-up attributes has ever tried Vite? Well, time to find a palatable workaround...

Quick update to Admin Bar Component (1.3.2) that fixes a bug where using a custom font family wasn't working everywhere. I'm not saying you should do this, but now you can set `--admin-bar-font-stack: inherit;` to pick up any system or custom font, like this Google Font. 🙈

I have a couple of big things planned this year. The first is to move all of my open-source #webcomponents tools under one banner to make them more official and easier to find. Today I am excited to release the Web Components Toolkit!

I think I dislike everything about custom events in #webcomponents:

Subclassing Event: too much boilerplate. Dispatching Object.assign(new Event("name"), extraData): shorter but looks gross and (if you care about TS) does not get you a type to export or merge into the relevant global interfaces.
