My father served in Patton’s 3rd Army, and despite coming home with a chest full of medals and two Purple Hearts, he almost got arrested for trying to have lunch at a diner. Nor was he allowed to participate in the GI Bill or any veteran’s benefits. And look where we are today. What a damn shame.
