I desperately want to be wrong about this. But what evidence from these past 11 months could you show me that would lead me to conclude otherwise?

Mike Johnson gets to look like a good guy to the American public- let’s repeal that self-dealing BS! - while giving Thune and Trump exactly what they want, knowing the legislative process ensures it’ll actually never get repealed.

Also, such a *nice* performative piece by Mike Johnson to schedule a separate vote (later) to strip out the $500k payday for 8 GOP Senators. Why would Thune, who personally profits from this payday, bring it to a vote in the Senate if the House passes it? And if he did, why would Trump sign it?

It reminded me of the first time my kids saw the Milky Way with the naked eye. We were at the Grand Canyon. The world revealed itself that night in a way that reading about it or seeing a picture of it could never do it justice. It had to be lived. I wanted to feel that again with them.

Confirmed this by finding more reporting from @jeffhorwitz.bsky.social indicating that half of all reported scams on Zelle (the peer-to-peer-payment platform owned by numerous banks) originated from Meta ads.

Also, banks have got to be pissed. Global losses from fraudulent credit card transactions is about $33B. Meanwhile Meta admits their ad platform *EARNS* at least $7B in revenue from fraudulent ads, with internal estimates as high as $14B

That feels like some real “I should sue you” kind of money
