I feel like most modern American suburbs are indistinguishable from one another, but for the regional market dominance of certain coffee/donut chain restaurants and fried chicken chain restaurants.

Are these maps accurate? Who knows. Do they feel accurate? Hell yes.

One of the stealthy things about South Park’s ongoing Trump storyline is that their use of his actual face in the cartoon serves to highlight how often he makes what I now call the South Park smile. And now, whenever he makes that face in real life, he’s instantly the caricature

With a long exposure I can still see some color. And I seem to catch a flight going by every time 😂

Northern lights aren’t as vibrant or directly overhead like last night for me in the Twin Cities. But I bet this looks amazing in Canada.
November 13, 2025 at 3:21 AM
Last night’s northern lights were the most vibrant I’ve seen in my lifetime. As excited as I was to experience this, it also left me a little sad that the people I love the most are a thousand miles away right now. As you can see in the family group chat, I would’ve given them my sky last night.

Beautiful night to stare at the night sky.

David Byrne’s Who Is The Sky tour defies categorization. It is so much more than a concert. And it was beautiful and brilliant. The stagecraft from American Utopia is there, but the integrated video brought another artistic dimension to play with.

Sometimes you search for a metaphor. Sometimes a metaphor reaches for you.

Here’s a live look at Trump tearing down the White House.

Can't get no connection, can't get through
Where are you?
Well the night weighs heavy on his guilty mind
This far from the borderline

I think this is parallel to the way Lee Atwater talked about race in this notorious quote below. How do you talk about race without talking about race. In this case, inflation demands we talk about the price of things instead of talking about how much we get paid for our labor.
July 31, 2025 at 7:37 PM
We don’t all feel the effects of inflation the same way. A paper from the Minneapolis Fed highlights research about the disparate impacts of inflation at different income levels. The gap in purchasing power is growing faster than the gap in income.

We hardly talk about wages politically anymore. I think public discontent about inflation is an oblique way of talking about wage stagnation. But I think we talk about it this way because that’s how elites want to frame it. They’d rather have us talk about prices instead of wages.

Lucy Bronze played the whole tournament with a broken tibia. 598 minutes of match play on a broken leg.

Move over “Willis Reed game” and “Jordan’s flu game”, “Lucy Bronze tournament” has entered the chat.

Trump denies ever making drawings? WSJ says the drawing in Trump’s letter to Epstein was in heavy marker. A quick google shows his drawings have sold for at least $50,000. Does the style look familiar?
July 18, 2025 at 12:12 AM
The WSJ story on Trump’s letter to Epstein has Dems calling for Rep Jim Jordan(R-Ohio) to hold hearings on the Epstein file.

What’s Jim gonna be doing tomorrow? Sitting under deposition answering questions about his role covering up sexual abuse at OSU by Dr. Strauss.
