It is both true that:

1️⃣ nationally, data centers use way less water than golf courses
2️⃣ locally, if your watershed and supply are extremely constrained (or as here, horribly mismanaged) dropping a data center into the mix may tip you and your neighbors into a very bad situation

what a good use of my friday morning... performing cpr on this corpse of a computer and then exorcising the demons which haunt it when i finally bring it back to life.

proprietary computing will only get more fragile.

fwiw, there's a gajillion of us out there watching you build and silently loving all of it. :)

sometimes it's easy to forget our warm feelings for the work you do doesn't just, like, automatically reach you. thanks for everything you do!

it's reactive and declarative and, unlike nix{os}, it's distributed and dynamic rather than single-host and static. unlike k8s operators, it doesn't have single points of failure. everything is built on raft.

codes of conduct are essential. but self-appointed committees need to be rethought or the nixos situation will just keep happening.

it's very weird to me that so many free software projects have somehow allowed themselves to install a self-appointed judge dredd. of *course* that's going to be full of bias and inevitably weaponized.
