I thought the wear patterns were interesting too! I'm surprised you can see the 4 as clear as it is considering it's used twice.

I think feedback would help this immensely. I think most people would love to know WHY they were rejected so that they can do better next time, or at least joke about how arbitrary the system is. It could also reveal bugs that are weeding out good candidates. e.g. www.ibtimes.co.uk/lazy-mediocr...

Try turning it "all the way off". Disconnect AC power if you have it. Hard power off/power cycle a few times. If it has a battery disconnect and then try to have it turn on. After that try to turn reboot then spam F2/F12

I've come across something like this before. I want to say it's windows fastboot that is trying to interfere. Basically it tries to boot widows faster by ignoring some keyboard inputs/startup. If I remember correctly, the best way to deal with this is to force the computer to dump active memory.

That said, I'm not sure anyone wants annoying escort missions. Especially a franchise known for its themes of isolation.
